Whatever you decide on, from what I have heard, you get what you pay for with dog food. Those labeled premium or super-premium are going to be the best bet as far as quality. However, usually you can only find them at pet specialty stores. One that I have heard many good things about is Solid Gold. A friend of mine's mother breeds and shows miniature longhaired dachshunds and she feeds them Solid Gold. I have seen her dogs, and they are gorgeous and healthy! I would definitely ask the vet first, though, although my vet keeps on pushing Science Diet on me, and I don't like it much. The quality has gone downhill in the last few years as far as nutrition and ingredients go. It may have been the best out there before, but now you can find better. Good luck
