99 mile trip today to pick up the new dogs!
Right, last night somebody phoned me and said she had taken in 28 dogs that were being sold at a FLEA MARKET, she had them for about 1 week, she has payed out for all the meds for them and they are all putting on weight well but she cant handle them, and would I mind taking some in, even if it was just for a foster situation until they found homes, of course I couldnt resist so said yes. Well I was going to pick them up in 3 days but when she showed me some of them on webcam this morning I just had to have them! So, I told the fiance' and he booked the day off work (and he is going to work a sunday, bless! ) and drove home and we are just about to take our dogs a walk then try get all 13 dog crates in the car (luckily, the back seats can be taken out and I can fit a small dog crate in the front leg space!) and then we are off. I will be bringing back:
2 schnauzers (sp?)
5 jack russel terriers
2 st bernards
1 labrador
1 dalmation
and 2 weimaraners
*so excited*
anyway, please wish us luck! we should only be about 5 hours (we will be stopping every 3/4 of an hour or so to let the dogs have some air, stretch they're legs and go potty) hopefully.
PS. Maybe something is telling us we need to get the new kennel progress going faster!

Thanks, hopefully the original rescuer can post them later as I don't have a camera but she took a few of them for me.
Anyway - got there within about 1.3/4 hour and we (fiance' and I) were both excited but dreading what the dogs would be like, so we went through the gate and lined up in the garden were about 10 HUGE (at least 10ft x 5ft) kennels, unfortunatly all the dogs are a bit timid at first so they were in they're bed boxes so we got invited inside had a cup of tea then went and picked out the dogs. The poor things all have bare patches where the collars were (got some tea tree cream for it on the way home ) so we picked out the collars for each dog then brought them out, they got friendlier and I cant belive how happy they were! First we got out the shnauzers (1 standard and 1 mini), put collars on, then got out the JRT's who were a little more timid but still friendly, they had scabs over where the collars had been so we put a harness on each of them instead and put on some tea tree oil, put them in the crates, then took out the st.bernards, put on they're collars and leads (too heavy to carry out to the car unlike the others :P ), got them in the car wich they hated but after some coaxing with a bit of chicken they got in, closely followed by the lab, dalmation and weimaraners (sp?), we stopped half an hour into the drive, got some water got back in the car after a walk around the service station, was another hour until we stopped again, got out walked all the dogs (how stupid did we look? xD), got a bit of water, and then it was another half hour and we were home. Got the dogs out the car and took them up the road and planned on turning around but the dogs wanted to go to the park (they had vets papers so we know they have had jabs) so we took them in and they had a good run in the tennis courts (off leash), needless to say it was difficult getting them back on leashes but we managed, got home, settled them into the spare bedroom and they are all now fast asleep, st.bernards are upside down on a sofa <3 so cute.
So, enough of my babbling :P

hehe, thanks (:
I didnt have long to post last night (?) so I have to admit, I also got a yorkshire terrier I think she has mastitis and have an eye infection for definate so she will be going to the vets tonight. I gave all the dogs they're dinner last night (A bit of rabbit, chicken legs and some turkey necks) and they gobbled it up, the best possible response  . They have all been a walk today as well as our mate so he could take the st.bernards (they have bad leash manners to say the least!) and apart from some shying away from *big scary trees* we had a great walk, and the shnauzer (standard) took a liking to the ponds so we plan on taking them to the fenced dog park on a nice day and let them have a swim. Anyway - thank you to all who replied! The dogs are getting better and better and most of them have some simple commands (ie. sit, leave it, down).
Bye for now!

All is good!
Dogs should be moved into new kennels by the end of the month. There is loads of people visiting and all have chipped in with the work and also donated some money (£282.53) for the dogs, just need electrics in, freezers, doors(with locks), windows(with galvanised steel bars behind so even if a window is smashed its pretty impossible to get to the dogs or the dogs get out, it willl also have locks on the outside and inside), A/C and heating, then it willo be done . When kennels are done and dogs quarantine is over we will be adopting out some of dogs (we already have homes lined up, these people have been on the waiting list for over 3 months and these dogs will be perfect for them, otherwise I would have kept them) and then we will adopt more dogs when the next rescue arises!

That's just great to hear. Wow.. Im not sure i'd be equipped for that many dogs at one time. My heart really goes out to you guys and the dogs. Hope all is well with everyone still. Saint Bernards really get my heart too... the small sofa thing you mentioned made me laugh. They're super characters. As a fellow rescuer.. all i can really do is say Thanks and i'd love to give you guys hugs right now. For some reason i can't get past the computer screen . Thanks again guys, the dogs really appreciate it! God Bless

Big update:
5 of the dogs are in new homes with my friends and are doing great, the st.bernards have stolen my heart and are staying, my fiance's brother will be having The russels (They are now named Jack, Taz and Ty) the rest of the dogs will be going to friends and relatives and the yorkshire terrier will be staying here, she is an old dog and needs alot of care so yet another one will be joining the family My dogs have been cool with it and all of them know heel now so thats cool. Will be taking the st.'s out tonight for a good walk off-leash as we finally got all the dogs tracking collars, should be fun lol.
