not typically a friendly forum
Well, i came here looking for friendly conversation with my own kind: Dog-Lovers! However, i've run into a few road-blocks. There are some people here that are kind and do have great advice without too much judgement (as i've observed, as i said i was), such as Anubis and Vetgroomer. I'm sure many people you've responded to have been thankful for the information you both provided. I can also say myself that you both opened up my mind about a few things or you've said things that i was like, "wow, didn't know that"
Anyways, there are many people here that are just the opposite. I'm real tired of confrontation in my life and i see it way too much to see it on a dog forum too. Sometimes there really are people here looking for education on the life of a dog and what you feed it and how you groom it and what to do about in-home cures for the small things (abrasions, cuts, scratches, ect.) and some people jump all over them. I thought joining THIS forum would be different.. but it's not that different from what i see everyday on a friends forum.
I wrote this to let you guys know that i'm taking time off from the forum. I doubt anyone will miss me, i've only been here a couple weeks or so, but i feel that you should get a courtesy notice. I won't delete my account (and seeing the lack of forum moderators, i doubt they will delete it either). I may come back and answer a few posts every now and then, but im pulling myself from the i-love-dogs.com forums. It's not the community that i was hoping (maybe, wishing) it was.
It's hardly an environment for learning and a comforting place to talk about the only reason this forum was created; our dogs. This is more of a place where for every 1 question there seems to be 30 negative responses. Maybe there have only been 5 or so posts like this, but for me that's 5 or so too many.
I don't know if this is a close enough community for my post to mean anything, but maybe for future dog owners who love their pets, and the dog species in general, you might try and change? Ahh.. time will tell.
Good luck to all the dog owners searching for information, and the few good people who really are trying to help. May God protect all dogs in homes of everything affected by this forum.
