No, I'm sorry; I just can't bring myself to do that. (Blech!) However... last winter I read in the news that a couple near the Utah/Nevada border got lost in the mountains for nearly two weeks--- they survived by eating dog food. So I guess, it couldn't be too bad, if it would keep us humans alive in a blizzard. But I shudder to think of being in such desperate circumstances. (Yucky!)

Not trying to judge you or anything, but I'm trying to understand your point in tasting the food in the first place. What are you looking for in the taste of the food? I can't bring myself to eating my dogs food.

I've tasted dog food, out of curiosity.
My dog wasn't eating well so we decided to change her dog food and see if a little variety would encourage her to eat.
We went from pedigree, to dog chow, to the local supermarkets dog food brand, and she only liked the cheaper supermarket brand.
I tried each type, just out of curiosity, to see what it tasted like. Bleh! Not gonna do that again. Unless, we change to a brand I haven't tasted yet...
By the way, pedigree dog food tasted better, to me anyway.
Since she has puppies right now, and still nursing them, we're feeding her pedigree for puppies and she likes this one a lot. Although I'm glad she's regained the weight she lost, I think she might be starting to get a little pudgy...

Lol.
If you knew what was in dog food - you wouldn't eat it. Not even a little taste.. Even with a high quality food, I couldn't imagine chowing down a bowl full. Having said that, I have been to a dog bakery before and they do display some very yummy looking cookies and biscuits topped with frosting!

A Silly Question
If sandwich bread is square, then why is most luncheon meats round.
When you go to Heaven, do you wear the clothes you were buried in forever?
Babies wake up almost every two hours or so, then why say.Why did man walk on the moon before it was discovered that wheels could be put on luggage? Why go to the top of a tall building only to put money in binoculars to look at things on the ground?

Considering that many dog food manufacturers use untested dead animal carcasses, I would seriously reconsider doing this again in the future.

My dog eats a home cooked meal. So beside missing out on all the spices and flavorings I prefer to add to my food, her food tastes fine. I'm done with kibble. I prefer a balanced diet I can control. Not some poorly paid worker who's just trying to get through the day and make a buck.

My dogs eat a diet made of human grade ingredients, with the addition of fresh, home cooked foods. So yeah, I've tasted some of the things they eat...like yogurt, cottage cheese, rice and chicken, cooked eggs, green beans, raw carrots and fruit. I also have tasted the homemade bakery dog cookies, which are pretty bland. I don't see what the dogs think is so great about them, but they do.

Since their sense of smell is so good maybe it is the smell more than the taste. so many dogs just wolf down the food anyway you wonder how they taste anything. ESPECIALLY steak.

Any store brand (meaning places like...Walmart, grand union etc etc) which include kibble and pedigree and the like are worthless. They put the worst pieces of animal in the food. Or for all we know PEOPLE!. Never know if a worker fell into the machines or not. They pick up road kill actually off the side of the road and bring it into the factory to be made into dog food.
I feed my dog Canidae. Really one of the best out there. I recommend it. If you don't know what it is. look it up on google!
Oh and a grilled chicken isn't so bad either -no spice of course- dog loves it.
One brand which really is horrible is Cycle. If you ever open a can you will think it was plastic. And it probably is plastic.
Alpo uses red dye #5 in their food. Causes Cancer
Kibble, Pedagree, Iams, Netro, use chopped up animal hooves in their food to give it weight. Also kibble was heard of using road kill a lot, actually all the ones I named use road kill for the extra meat in the food. Its not beef it just looks like it!
Science diet is the same as them as well. I wouldn't feed it to my dog if it was starving. Heck that science diet food that comes in that plastic container looks like someone threw up in it. I wouldn't touch it.
As for dog treats. Milkbone is the only thing from the store I would buy. Or I would get some real beef jerky!
Well thats that.

Oh brother!! Yes we have all seen the crews that are driving around the country just hunting up road kill for our dog foods. Maybe dog foos grave robbers as well. YIKES!!
Considering a worker can fall or even pee in any vat anywhere anytime maybe we should should raise our own live stock and grow our own vegetables and fruit.
Yes, real beef jerky.. now thats healthy *rolling eyes*. Notice the first ingredient in Milkbone.
