Default Help

I really need some help and I really don't know what to do, I have a little American Eskimo for our neighbors paid like 200 plus for this little thing put her on a chain and left her outdoors and basicly negleted her.So I need to ckean her up.

She needs a hair cut badly, but she is so jumpy or I don't know what you call it, but when I try and cut some of her hair she wants to bite. She won't stay still.

We had her fixed, and she seemed so much different when we picked her up, she acted like she was having some breathing problems, like the Vet sprayed her with something, not sure, but she had breathing problems for like 2 months afterwords.

So if anybody can tell me what to use, to calm her down long enough to clean her up I sure would appreciate it

Eskies can be opinionated little dogs, no doubt about it. I'd suggest you let a professional do the job, if at all possible. Professional groomers know a lot of handling tricks, have the proper equipment to do the job really well, and many groomers have safe and humane restraint systems that not only allow them to get the job done without a lot of struggling, but will also keep your dog safe from accidental injury. Ask your vet for a referral.

You already have some great advice. Have a professional groom her and for all the reasons mentioned by the first poster. In addition, sometimes this option of allowing someone else to groom a pet that doesn't appreciate it, puts less of a strain on your relationship with it.

Many dogs, when not handled and socialized properly when they are young, become very difficult to groom as adults (combing, nail clipping, ear and inner mouth check etc.). Having said that, your can try to get your dog accoustmed more to human touch be having sessions where touch her all over her body so she gets use to it.

This is just a possible solution but just understand that some will never adjust.

You may also need behaviorist advice, also you should do something to divert her energy to other things that will entertain her.

i agree to you... you should make your pet accustomed to touch since most pets will bite you or think that you are playing with them when its grooming time.
