Scared Dog
My 8 year old rottweiler has been acting very strange the last few days, she has been following me everywhere and even going into the basement by herself (very unusual). She is acting very scared. Any idea what might be going on?

I love guessing games! Let's see...maybe there's a ghost in the basement who's possessed her? All kidding aside, has the dog been to a vet recently? Sudden changes in behavior can be an indication of an underlying medical condition. I would end your concern by starting at your vet.

You dog might have anxiety or stress problem. Let her socialize with other dogs, you should also spend more time with her playing or going outdoor.

Yeah socializing might help, how much exercise does she get a day? Let also the vet take a close look at her for any health issue.

I strongly agree with you. Or better yet, take your puppy to the vet for examine.

Need a little information about your dog's lifestyle to help you- the more details, the better.

Any time a dog's behavior changes, the first step is a trip to the vet. An 8 year old Rottie could have any number of medical issues, from failing vision to kidney failure. Rule out an possible medical problems before you start investigating emotional/psychological issues like anxiety or stress.

Try The Vet First
Please be sure and check with your vet right away. I had a neighbor who's dog started acting strange like that. They tried giving her more attention and extra special care, thinking maybe she was depressed or something. When it didn't get better they took her to the vet, but it was too late by then. It turned out she had intestinal cancer.
Hopefully your dogs problem is not severe, but it pays to be sure. So please be sure to rule out the serious stuff first, then try the other.
