I am just curious about what type(s) of breeds everyone likes.
Whether it be for the look, temperment, size, work abilities... what are your top 5 favorite breeds?

I'll go first.
Dont get me wrong, I love all dogs, but these are my favorite.

1) Greyhound~ All Sighthounds really!!

2) Old English Sheepdog

3) Schnauzer~ All sizes

4) Collie/Sheltie

5) Airedale Terrier

2) Those with or without fur.
3) Those with or without a tail.
4) Those with paws.
5) Those that don't meow.

1. Alaskan Malamute
2. German Shepards
3. Airedale Terrier
4. Afghan Hound
5. Collie

The one Breed thats scares the bejesus out of me is the Saluki...they have the longest legs and are super thin LOL

What about the old dogs that dont have any teeth? lol
Did you know there is a breed of dog that diesnt have teeth!
I'll have to look it up, and get back to you on the breed. I do know
it is a hairless dog.... but the type escapes me right now!!

Afghans are thin too, just hard to see with all that long hair!!
Granted they are not as thin as the Saluki.
Personally I like the Saluki, we were thinking of getting a Saluki, but dont have the room for one. One day!!

Ok, so it is a Peruvian Hairless dog, BUT, Wiki said....
"The genes that cause hairlessness also result in the breed often having fewer teeth than other breeds, mostly lacking molars and premolars."
So they have teeth, but not always all of them!!

In no particular order..
1. Irish wolfhound
2. Great Dane
3. Greyhound
4. Great Pyrnese
5. Mastiff

I currently have a Greyhound that I rescued from the Humane Society, and I'm thinking of getting a Dane when I'm in a situation where I can have 2 dogs.

I can hear your relief piti in that sigh of yours, at least all your bases are covered fully

for me it goes

1. Akita

2. Chow

2. Husky

2. Mal

2. Eurasier (very nearly got one of these)

2. Keeshond.....very pretty dogs, cant help but want to snuggle one of these.

2. Norwegian Elkhound

2. Samoyed.

(notice a theme happening here, guess who loves the larger spitz breeds?)

2. Bullmastiff (just cause i love em, and cant put them in with number 3 favorite.

3. Pyrenian mountain dog............WOW is all you can say about those

4. Boxer.....there is just something so goofy looking about them that I cant help but want to grab those faces and give them a big sloppy kiss.

5. Any other dog that wants to give me a big tail wag and be my friend.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Greyhounds!!
I cant wait till we have enough space for one.
I have wanted to adopt a retired racer for about 2yrs now.
They are so beautiful, I'm envious of you!!

I have to agree. I love watching him run or toss his rope around the living room. He's finally started to be a cuddlebug as well after having him for almost 4 months or so. I just wish sometimes that he could talk, so I could know what he had been through before I got him. We're slowly working through the problems though.

Well, I LOVE all dogs, but I think my fav. 5 are:
1. Great Dane!
2. Mastiff or Bull Mastiff
3. Golden Retriver
4. Basset Hound
5. Irish Wolfhound

I like big dogs :-)
The Bassets are kind of random in my list, but I love em, their so comical!
