Default putting your dog down

I was faced with euthanizing my 12 year old Bichon,Ralph this past summer. It was a very difficult decision to make. Spoke to my vet in detail, asked alot of questions. He told me I would "just know" when it was time. I was carrying him outside to do his business. He was getting weaker and I wanted to spare him his dignity. When Ralph was no longer able to eat and I was giving him water with an eye droppper to help him swallow the pain medicine, I knew the time had come for me do the last thing I could for him. I held him in my arms as he crossed over to the bridge very peacefully. I miss him every day, but I know what I did was the right thing for HIM.

That's heartbreaking, however I completely understand. I "knew" with each of my dogs as well. I think they get to a point, where they are ready and they communicate that to us. With my dogs, it was the look in their eyes... they kind of said "Ok, I'm done with all of this... " - It was very hard, however if they lived a full and happy life then you did your job as a dog owner They still love you, just as much as you still love them.

That's really hard situation for you and your buddy, sending vibes and crossing fingers for relief and good health. You will just see and feel it your self when your dog is not having good quality time and just suffering.
