So funny that you mentioned this! My dog and I are in a fuss right now about her desperate need to eat ALL THE TIME. She acts like she's starving... I even took her to the vet to make sure she didn't have worms. Nope... she's just spoiled and wants to eat all day. It's pretty frustrating

You are supposed to treat food like it's no big deal and never share with them to make this habit go away. So far, it's SLOW GOING. We try to feed her only when she is calm to prevent making meal time even more exciting. But at some point, you have to feed them She just won't calm down about it. I waited until she was sleeping one day to call her for dinner. It was the only time she wasn't thinking about food... haha.

Mine are there too, but then mine are there no matter where I am. They are my shadows.

One of my close friend has the same dog behavior when eating his meal and it's good for growing puppies so he was advised with a good kind of eating bowl that is slim enough to slow down consuming food.

When I am cooking something in the oven and I'll turn on the oven light so my dog can see what's cooking - my hubby and I call it "doggie TV" LOL

You just got me laughing, THANKS! I needed that--very funny.
My dogs are the same way as the rest of you have described. I live alone w/my 2 dogs and I don't sit at a table to eat---got bad habits-I'm either sitting up to my computer where they can't "get to me" very easily or sitting in my "chair " (living room) where they can! They have me pretty well trained though---they patiently wait for me to finish--they know they are going to get the very last scrap I have left (which isn't much but 1 tiny piece--but they now think it has their name on it.)
