My Staffy Puppy cross....crossed with what?
Hi everyone,
I have a 9 and a half week staffy puppy called chaos. He is not pure staffy, he is a staffy cross....my vet has asked me what he is crossed with ( as if it's a pitbull - he has to be put down!) So I'm now frantically trying to find out what my gorgeous little pup is crossed with....
I'm hoping that somebody who reads this can help me!!!
Please let me know if you know, or if you think you know, what he is crossed with, and a percentage on how certain you are!
There are pictures of him in my album....if you have the time, please take a look and let me know!
Thanks in advance for all your answers.

He looks so sweet. With his body and face, I could also say he has pitt in him. Congratulations for your new baby.

No way
hey he is a real cutie, but i say no way has he got pit in him, he hasnt got the body structure or the square solid snout of a pit, and i have a pit cross and a purebred pit in my extended family, neither who looked like this as a puppy. i also have a staffy cross who i have spent a year and a half trying to find what she is crossed with but noone is any help. good luck finding out, i am 95% sure he's not a pitbull.

For $60 to $100, you can order a DNA swab kit for your dog-- the lab will analyze it for up to 3 predominating breeds, and send you a certificate. If it means the difference between destroying your puppy and keeping him, it would be well worth the money-- and the peace of mind. If you decide you want to do this, just do a google search "Dog DNA kits." You have several to look over and choose from. Good luck, I hope he turns out to be a mix you can keep!

DNA Test
Dear X,
Your vet wants to put him down if he's a Pit? Did I read that correctly?
Nooo I must be seeing things....
Anyways I agree w/ the DNA Test, I have had friends who have done this, Unfortunately the test are so broad that there is no one breed conclusion, But hey its worth a try. I have 2 rescues really doesn't matter what they are. I love them. Only true way to know is to meet the mommy and daddy.
Good Luck
Linda

Thats a really cute puppy. Can the vet make that decision?
What exactly is a pit bull anyway? I've had people call my dog a pit bull and she's an English staffy. Are pit bulls the larger American staffies?
I hope you get to keep your pup.

My question for you is. If he is a staffy wouldn't he fall in the Pit Bull Category and have to be put down anyway.
I know many places its American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, American Bull dog (and anything that resembles a Pit bull or could be related)
Just asking.
As for what your dog is mixed with.....maybe some Lab
By the way I think its wrong that your own vet wants to put your dog down. You would think a vet wouldn't have a bias.
Most vets will cut a few corners to help their clients. Especially in a BSL situation.
I say ditch the vet and find a new one
