I have an Airedale, he is 3 years old. He was sick with a stomach viruse for almost 2 weeks and he wasnt eating or drinking anything. Now he is all back to normal. However he hasnt pooped for a while, and he is drink more water then he usually does. We took him to the vet and he had 2 blood work test... not spicifically for the water problem, but would that turn up as somthing if it was a problem? Is it possible somthing is wrong with him. Or could it just be because he hasnt eaten or drunk anything for a while.

Yes, the blood work will tell the vet if there are issues with the dog's organs -- kidney, liver, pancreas, etc.

How long did the dog go without fluids? Did you take it to the vet for IV fluids? When sick, dogs will typically fast but they should still take in fluids. It is very possible that the dog is severely dehydrated if it didn't get IV fluid support. This can cause the kidneys to shut down which is not a good thing.

So sorry for your Airedale, hope he's fine now and get well fully soon. BTW, how did you know he got virus on his stomach? The next time you should take him immediately to the vet if you noticed something wrong with him like not eating or drinking.
