Exclamation We are going to have to get our girl a Sandbox!

Yesterday our Dog discovered Sand. And she loved it!

We currently live in an apartment and we have a dog that likes to dig....and today she discovered sand at the park. (she is either a Jack Russell mix of a Feist mix and she loves to dig)

We would like to maybe get a small plastic swimming pool and put sand in it for her on our patio (we have a big patio)

The thing is we live in an apartment and that might be a bit messy

Do you think its doable or a good idea to give her a sand box?

Maybe one with a lid to keep the neighborhood cats out?

What do you think? (Victoria Stillwell (the dog behaviorist) uses sandboxes for compulsive diggers and it helps to teach them to dig that instead of the yard)

Here is my girl at the park today: I've never seen her have so much fun.

Whatever mix she is she loves to dig!

Our poodle Zackie got our there and started playing too but he wouldn't allow his picture to be taken....

Sasha is such a good girl she is sitting here with me as I post this

Sounds like a sandbox is in order! You might have to sweep up sand and put it back in the box occasionally, but it's worth it!

Avoid making a mess with sand! make a tall sandbox with ramps going into/out of it.

I think you should get bigger sand box for her or maybe you closet will be digged too!

Put some treats and toys in for her to dig.

It seems that you baby really enjoy her sandbox...
If I have a big backyard I will buy my baby a sandbox like that too...

My Springer is a digger too. In exchange for teaching her to leave my garden perennials alone, I let her have a planter box with sand in it, for herself. She takes her toys out of her toy bucket (here in the house), and I find them outside in her sandbox. Tracking sand into the house hasn't been much of a problem, either-- but then, we're not all that fussed about it.
