How would I adopt a puppy thats about to be culled?
This may be a taboo subject, and I'd like to apologize if I inadvertently offend anybody. I've been looking to adopt a Husky from a shelter for a few months now and have visted every local spca, humane society and animal control in my area every weekend. Unforunately (or fortunately for the pups), there haven't been any in need of rescue in my area for some time.
A friend of mine that lived temporarily in Alaska mentioned to me that during this season, many Husky breeders will begin culling their litters due to the warming weather. He's never done it himself and has only heard of the practice 2nd hand, but he suggested that I contact breeders and offer to adopt a puppy they plan to pts.
Now I was wondering if anybody has had any experience doing this and how it turned out? I was also wondering what would be the best way to even bring this subject up to a breeder, because I can see it being pretty offensive if taken the wrong way. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!
