I was thinking the same thing as I have a golden retriever/cocker---also have a pure cocker and the mixed breed is smarter! What I find interesting--is the reason poodles have/had the 'poodle clip': created for the working poodle so could swim more effectively, while still having fur to protect its organs as it went about the business of hunting and retrieving. I've always hated the 'poodle clip' look--wish more owners would let them be more natural looking now that they are mainly house pets. And I have read that they are the #1 smart dog somewhere else. My next dog may be a poodle but you can bet it will not have that 'ugly' look! (NOT)

The one thing that I can tell you is that my Dane is definitely not the smartest thing out there ;-p. I like Border Collie's though, and agree that they are smart puppies.

I thought I got the smartest and the naughtiest of all! Pretty interesting to see but sad not seeing my favs on top...
