Default Baxter, the friendly Dobe!

I wanted to share some pictures of my parents' dog, Baxter. I get to go see him on Friday, actually!

He's a right little tart when he knows you and he's at home, though.

EDIT: Wow, the photos didn't size down...

Oh no, he's far from lazy. He's the most energetic dog I have ever seen that wasn't a greyhound.

I'm not sure why he lies down to eat, but it's the funniest thing. He's all kinds of weird, though, he's the onlg dog I know that likes showers and getting sprayed in the face with a hose.

*I* don't like getting sprayed in the face with a hose, lol, but he will actually chase the water stream around, pouncing on it.

So yeah, it's not that he's lazy. I think he's just... eclectic.

Bax is great. I had to adjust to him because it had been years since I lived with a puppy and he's extremely aggressive... not like angry, vicious aggressive, but he likes to poke my mom and I with his nose and jump on us, etc. Learning how to read his behavior was important; he's just happy, all the time. Always wants to play, always happy to see everyone...

He used to have a friend named Boomer (sadly, Boomer is no longer with us) and you could get B excited HOURS before Boomer was arriving just by saying to him "Is BOOMER coming over?"

My parents still do that to him, only with my name.

Thanks for the kind words about B!

You should see him on his chaise-lounge! He's the only dog I know that doesn't have a floor bed. He lives inside, and he lay all over a piece of furniture for so long my parents relented and moved it into their bedroom (my mom was redecorating anyway), and it became his bed! And the best part? In the middle of the night, he still gets up and jumps into bed with them anyway! Spoiled!

I love Dobies! We had one when I was a kid and he was the smartest dog I have ever seen. My mom could train him to do anything. He used to jog with me every night when I was in highschool. His name was Moe and he passed away from cancer many years ago but I still miss him!

A fellow Baxter!

Mine's a little smaller but it sounds like they have equal amounts of personality and zeal. My Bax doesn't lay down to eat because he's done in about 15 seconds. He swallows it all whole.

My dog sometimes eat his meal lying down, usually after hours of playing.
