Hi there! I am new to the board but I have had my dog for four years now. She is a run away I found on the street, or rather she found me. I asked some of my friends who are active in dog training/breeding/shows, but no one can tell me what she is, or a mix of. Even my vet could not offer me any ideas...She is about 40-45 pounds, and overweight at that. She has short hair with a darker streak down the middle of her back and two light patches on her shoulder blades. Her ears are not cropped (at least not by me), and she hardly ever barks, but it is loud and piercing when she does. Plus, she hates, hates, hates the water. Any ideas???

WOW... THAT is a cute dog!!

This is a hard one, the 2 breeds I think she looks like are very rare and the likelyhood of her being a mix of the breeds (one or both) is almost impossible... the first is a Thai Ridgeback (many of your dog's traits fit the breed also) look it up on google and you will see how much she looks like one.

the other breed is a Basenji (but they are smaller than you dog)

Hi,nice cute dog! I too thought Ridgeback or Basenji. My Corgi hated water when she was puppy so,it was a lot of work for me to bath her but I did train her not to be scared of water,and now she does not mind.

I really don't see Ridgeback. In the last photo she does show a resemblance to a Basenji, though. Mixed with ?????

The dog looks like a cross between a lab and a dachsund.

Thanks for the info. I did look up the Thai Ridgeback, and I do see the similarities. And I have noticed the similarities with the Basenji, too. But like you said, very rare! I just alwasy wonder how a dog like her got to be a run away. Where did she come from? Anyway, thanks for the suggestions!
