My future daughter in-law had a Yorkie that was very hyper and yapped all the time. We gave her a playmate and that kept her busy. Do not give up on your poochie. It is in there nature. Puppies chew to their hearts content. I have a 1 year old dachsund that still chews, barks, poops and piddles on the floor when I do not get her out fast enough but you love the little buggers. We got her as a playmate for our 7 year old dachsund and all they do now is have jealous fits who is sitting on daddy or mommys lap. It is a phase. Is your puppy teething. Do you give him chewy toys like the denta bones or rawhides. It sounds like your puppy is just bored. Do you have time to take him for walks or rides in your car. Try that and see what happens. Good luck but don't give up on Oscar by all means.

Thanks very much for that comment.. i am now starting to change my mind.
I buy him rawhides and chew toys plenty of.
i don't think there's anyway we can get 2 dogs.. :S
This might be too late though, we have 2 people coming to see him tomorrow already. My main concern is now leaving him at home alone while my family and i are at school and work. I dont know what to do.
wish me luck, hope i make the right choice.

To be honest, this is why I don't suggest terriers for people wanting a purely pet dog. JRT's are amazing dogs in the right hands, they are hunting dogs, they need mental stimulation. It sounds like you need to learn more about the breed, I really want you to keep this dog, you have had him 2 weeks, hes a puppy that has been torn from his mother at 7-8 tender weeks old, its alot for a puppy to go through. Its unfair on him to be passed over again, he will be getting so messed up inside. You CAN get through the puppy stage, you CAN break the bad habits. If you need any help, or to just talk about him, any info etc (as you can probably guess, I have quite alot of experience in terriers lol) add my msn: cooper-toby-chase@hotmail.co.uk
I will try help all I can if you keep him.
PS. Get rid of the rawhide

hey, so far 6 people have came to see Oscar and they all fell in love with him, but I'm only in love with one She came with i think her boy friend and she's looking at her dog for her mum, her mum has another Jack Russell name charlie (or charles, i think its both )
anyhooo Charlie/Charles gets really bored by himself and lonely so she's looking for another dog his size. apparently she fell in love with him ever since she saw Oscar's pic. She'll be giving her answer tonight, i just really really hope she says yes, i'm very happy for her to have Oscar i htink she's the only one i'm happy with. PLEASE wish me luck and send me vibes (well send that lady "YES" vibes )
so yeah. . . pretty much

You got good points on both side for deciding which is best for everyone. Maybe the lesson there is to research everything about the dog before taking him/her to make sure he/she fits in your lifestyle and your gonna give the best for him. With all those super hyperactive dogs, spaying sometimes help to slow down their energy. Regular exercise and attentions are needed too to make good relationship and make pets listen and obey owners. Sending best luck and vibes for you and Charlie. Please keep us updated.

I wouldn't feel too bad about re-homing your pooch. If the temperament match just doesn't match, the best thing you can do for him is to find him a forever home with someone who understands the breed and adores the temperament.
Your question shows that you are committed to doing what is best for your pup, and to doing what is right for you. If you can find someone who can care for and love the dog as much or more than you, there is no guilt in doing that.
A dog is around for a long time and if you can't make it work now, you and the dog will be in for a lengthy life of strife. It is far better to find a home with people who understand and embrace the breed.
This doesn't mean that you should give up on a dog if that is what you want, but do your homework. There are many breeds that may fit into your lifestyle better than your Jack Russel. Puppies can take a lot of patience and take a long time to grow up enough to grow out of all the things that you described.
You may want to consider adopting an adult dog or older puppy that has grown out of many of the "puppy" stages. Often puppies or dogs are surrendered to shelters by people who didn't have the patience or education to do the training just when they were almost old enough to retain the training.
Whatever you decide to do, don't feel bad giving up a dog that is too much for your lifestyle - as long as you find it a good home!
Good luck and let us know how it goes!
