good progress??
Took Timber up on the trail this morning. He is learning that when I stop he backs up and walks where he is suppose to be. He even showed off to a couple and we walked 1/4 of a mile without having to make stop corrections.
Met the first golden retriever. went ok. the lady said the dog was friendly and asked if they could meet. I said yes, on calm terms. then her dog attacked timber and she said oh yeah, he has aggression issues. I told her then her dog needs to be leashed and not greet other dogs without knowing that first.
I then told timber to leave it and he did. yay.
we went about our way until we met another golden retriever they greeted calmly and after good sniffs were done we continued to walk and all went well. On the way off the trail we met a malamute/old english sheep dog and they greeted on calm terms. I was asked if I wanted to walk with her. I said I couldn't but thank you for letting timber meet on calm terms. she said she does that too and it was a pleasure to meet you. I said the same here.
By this time Timber was so full of himself he walked 1/4 mile without any walking issues at all. Loose leash walking I feel went extremely well. I can't wait to go again tonight.
Oh, I forgot. Timber even let 7 people pat him on the trail without being skiddish.
So, I am excited for his progress. I am by far near done, but I feel we are headed in the right direction. By the way, Timber don't take treats while out on walks. Not even the chicken or turkey. But I gave lots of praise and hugs and kisses. He loves that.
have a happy friday doggy lovers and hope you get to enjoy them this weekend.
