I Have Had it! July won't come soon enough.....Advice please
Neighbor kid provoking my dogs!!!! What can I do?
I've never been so angry at a child in my life. This kid about a week ago started throwing things at my dog from his balcony (the kid lives upstairs and he is about 8 or 9) trying to get her to bark and when she does he yells at us to make our dogs be quiet saying "They are too loud"
Then today we came home to pick up our dogs to go to play out at a relatives yard. And we get out side and the kid is running up and down the stairs with this Huge stick.....(now my one dog is a rescue dog and we don't know much about her past but she was young when we got her and she wasn't the most trusting dog) well he starts hitting and tapping the Rail with his stick and yelling "What your dogs name", and making both dogs bark.....and they got pretty uptight and then he yelled "Whats your dogs name, crazy and crazier"......and it took everything I had to walk away from there...infact it took my husband pulling me away. (I have never been so angry with a kid in my life...I wanted to march him upstairs to his parents with that stick and tell them what happened and ask him how would you feel if you had been hit in the past by a stick and some kid started waving it around at you)
But I didn't but it was very upsetting
Anyways what can I do to ensure this doesn't happen again.....we are moving in July
Is their anyway to teach them not to react.....
Is their anyway to keep this kid from pulling this garbage (we want to keep our dogs safe)
This family moved in about 2 weeks ago
(This kid has also started hanging out with a kid (who does not like dogs) who egged our door and used soda and vinegar on it because he didn't like the way our dog looked)
The kids in the complex are the reason we are moving.....we have never lived anywhere with kids that acted this bad
(All this happened after my Sasha impressed members of our towns police and fire department, city council members, and several members of the community at the dog day festival

That's really tough situation for you, maybe you can take some videos of his manner. First try to show to his parents/guardian that video or pictures you took for them to make move of discipline. Your dog maybe at risk if that boy throw something that your dog might swallow. Reporting to the authority will be the next step if they don't do any action to correct things...

I would like to add to wishbone. keep a journal of dates and times / what the boy did. to go along with the photos. talk to parents/guardians without your dog present. if that doesn't work. talk to your local humane society and see if they can talk to the boy and his parents about rescue and the proper way to address a dog/cat.
sounds to me he is on the verge of being an animal abuser.

Hi Puppylove, I agree with catching it on picture or video and confronting the parent's. I fear this kid will escalate his tormenting until he get's reaction from your pup's... Maybe check with the local police or Animal society to advise also... You may be saving the next innocent pup this kid come's in contact with by teaching this kid some respect.

Several years ago me and my brother owned a Rot. The neighbor kid kept throwing rocks at him, and the dog climbed over the fence and tore a big chunk out of the kid's arm. We had to have the dog put to sleep for biting a human. I asked the judge why we can't have the neighbor put to sleep for throwing things at the dog. Amimal cruelty laws have come a long way from since when I was young. Call the cops and the humane society. If I had it to do all over again, I would have tied my neighbor kid up and threw rocks at him. You would think the parents would know what their kids are doing. Maybe you should go beat the kid's parents for not watching their child. But I think you need to act fast before your dogs get tired of it and meet the same fate mine did.

Reason: misspelling and needed to add a sentence.
