Hi, my name is Jeff and I have been looking for an english bulldog for a couple weeks now. I live in Michigan and have looked everywhere. I have found some but the prices of this dog is unbelievable. I am on SSD and really cant afford more then prolly $400-$500. I am a 38 year old, married, stay at home dad of 3 due to a stroke I had 3 years ago. The stroke did some damage to my left side but I takes walks alot to improve the strength in my leg. I've been looking for a bulldog as a companion thinking it is a breed more my pace. When my wife goes to work and the kids go to school, it gets a little lonely here. If anyone knows of where I could get an english bulldog puppy in my area, in our price range could you please let us know. Oh and I beg you, if you are responding from Africa or Cameroon or some place like that, dont respond, I have gotten over 100 e-mails from those missionaries that want me to pay for shipping to get the puppy. I get excited, then immediatly disappointed, I can't take anymore of the scammers.

Have you tried looking online? Start with craigslist.org then go to your area, then choose the pets section..

Be VERY careful online... DO NOT buy a dog unless you an meet the parents, get copies of the parents health clearances (hips, elbows, etc. from OFA & CERF), your best bet is to attend a dog show in your area and talk to breeders there or to visit the Bulldog Club of American web site. If the breeder is not a member in good standing of the national breed club, do not buy a dog from them. There are too many puppy mills out there and dogs from puppy mills have poor health and unpredicatable temperaments!

can you do a search for rescues for the type of breed you are looking for. sometimes you can one in your state.
