To be honest, I don't think they realise how good this puppy is, and as they only see him crashing around the garden and ripping the place up (which is what the kennels and garden has been fitted out for) I don't think they will get the good boy impression anytime soon, Lol.

That's awesome! I hope, hope, hope, that you get to keep him! *fingers crossed* Those awful people do not deserve to ever own a pet again in life.

Its officially been 7 days. :-D
Well, actually, its been more then 7 days..closer to 8 days.
We got up pretty early this morning and took the pup to the rescue, he got signed off of the stray list, onto the rehoming list and we adopted him. I don't know what to say to the neighbours if they ask for him though?
I have proof of adoption and the like, and I am in the right, but...what now? :???:
Poor thing, he's teething at the moment so keeps chewing through the nipples of puppy bottles, so the OH went out and got him a baby bottles with medium flow nipples and he is much happier. He's also getting stuffed kongs and plenty of frozen chicken backs etc to keep him happy.
The kids are loving him and took him to the pond next to our house today, they filmed him on their phone and he looked to be having a blast, judging by the video aswell he is going to be difficult to keep away from the water, aswell.

I very much doubt they will be bringing any more dogs into the home, thankfully.

 Will definitely post regular updates.
I am not sure whether to let them know and get it over with, or just leave it thinking maybe they think we have already taken him anyway?

I would want to get it over with but then again I would be worried it may stir something up. I honestly don't know what I would do.

some people adopt dogs for the wrong reason... most of them doesnt even understand that the animal also has needs that they are responsible to provide it with it's needs.

Now THATS luck.
I was speaking to the OH this morning about how the owners had said nothing, maybe they realise he is ours forever now. Sure enough, I spoke too soon. We went out to the park for a quick stroll with labradors as they were going mad as they only had a small walk this morning so in the fenced arena we let them off and sat outside on the benches and let them play with Bennie (one of the german shepherds we regularily walk...He was adopted by a family who didnt care for him properly, obviously he ended up with hip problems and elbow problems due to lack of exercise and the teenage kids started walking him, I talked to them and they realised how important it was. Just goes to show how passionate kids can be..as opposed to the ones who are always beating up dogs etc. but hes fine now, the kids usually walk him but if they cant I told them they can text me and I'll walk him as I don't want it interferring in their school work etc) and had the pup in a sling, various people were walking past ohhing and awwing over him, giving him fuss etc and we just sat there watching the dogs play (something I love about dogs..sometimes they force us to just sit and watch, doing nothing, its not boredom...its peace...) and all of a sudden "HOWDY NEIGHBOURS" argh! "the neighbours" were standing in front of us, the kids were off playing in the park whilst we talked..
"Umm...hi"
"You two okay?"
"Yes you? the kids alright?"
"yeah yeah fine. The kids are wanting the dog so um...you could drop him off at our house when you get back, the wife is in"
"He's our dog"
"Sorry? you didnt think...you thought I gave him to you? hah. no. thats not it. I just thought the wife was pegging him out in the morning and he was hopping the fence..."
"Err...no he's ours. He was on our property, so we signed him as stray. He then has 7 days to be claimed, if he isnt claimed within 7 days, he is automatically put onto the rehomeing list, so we adopted him. we have the papers at home for proof, he IS ours."
"What? why didnt you tell me? this will break the kids hearts, I cant believe you can be so heartless!"
And he stormed off, I photo copied the adoption papers and popped them through the door. I will be staying up tonight to watch the dogs CCTV just in case, but even if he did get into the garden and try to take the dogs from the kennels, he will need some super super dooper cutters to get through the side/back pannels and front bars.
The pup is now staying inside, and two of the collies have moved in with him. I love this little guy.
It was slightly awkward telling your neigbours you have adopted their dog without permission BUT how damn lucky, I cant believe that after the 7 day mark. I expected them to say something that very morning. But alas, hes here with us, and we official own him (or, he officially owns us) so alls good for now.

Oh boy. I sure hope they don't get another one for "their kid's" to play with only when they want to and ignore and neglect the rest of the time. Some people really make me embarressed to be part of the human race. What about the pups heart that they broke? Guess they don't even consider that. I'm so glad this puppy is with you.. Please keep us updated...

Well, nothing come of their hissy fit sooo.....
He's, unsuprisingly, loved by everybody. We took him to a country fair yesterday (we were doing a bird of prey talk/show in the main arena), he was getting fussed from all angles and had a little walk. He is perfect on leash for now, but its early days and he was only walked for about 250-300 yards around the arena so we will see. We talked to our vet and as we don't know exactly when he last had his innoculations we had titres done and it appears he is immune to distemper, now, as we don't know if this is because he had a recent innoculation we will be doing another titre next week to see if the results are the same, if they stay the same, he won't be vaccinated.
He's a happy pup for now, currently sitting out in the sun with one of the danes bless him.

Not a clue, this pup is lovely.
Update now, and I apologise for the late reply, my OH gave birth to our first baby, a little boy, 2 days ago so its been in the hospital, home, feed dogs, walk dogs, shower then back to the hospital.
He's all good now. Growing like a good 'un! He is eating loads, and still on bottles. Though he is now having to have a calf/goat kid bottle. He is weaning slowly from the milk to the BARF, he has cut his milk in take by about 1/4 already, and is leaving a little bit over at each feed. He has the option for milk all day, but he is only having it 1-2 times a day, he has the option of raw bones ad-lib, and he eats raw 3 times a day for now. We will be switching him to a bowl of milk soon as opposed to a bottle. He has been perfect with the baby, as soon as we got him home its as if the hyper active puppy stage has switched off. He doesn't race through the house, he doesn't jump about randomly and when the baby has been in the travel cot in the lounge, he hasn't bothered, he just wants the baby keys to play with (we were sitting with the both yesterday, and the baby threw the keys out of the car seat, the pup picked them up and took them back, and they kept playing like that. We will have to get the pup some new keys though, as the baby loves them.

Glad everything is going so good with the '2 legged as well as the 4 legged' And it sounds like this is an ideal time for the new baby to meet this pup and grow up together! Thank you
The pup is hypnotized by the baby, we have to prop him up in the cot or put him in his car seat so he can keep an eye on the pup, then he throws toys out for him, the pup runs to get them and drops them back by the cot. Not a chance of the baby even cracking a smile at us, but he even laughs at the pup. Then we give the toy back to Jacob, and he throws it for the pup again.
Katire had his first bowl of milk this morning, he took it well but I think he was a bit confused. Going to put him milk intake down to 2 1/2-3 pints daily now, we will have no problems weaning him though!

I've been told before that I have an enquiring mind and I can't help wondering how the new 3 day old baby can do all these things yet or is this the proud happy daddy just talking, lol? Please quell my 'can't get this out of my mind' thing!! (Do not wish to offend or anything)

As I said, he is propped up in his cot. The cot has zip-down fronts and sides, so they are zipped down and he throws thing over them.
