My new dog :) introducing...
As most of you will know, i had to give my JRT pup away as we didnt think it was fair to keep him at home by himself (he gets very upset and barks and whinnes and the neighbours filed a complaint) and a puppy is too much for us especially a JRT. But after he left, i felt like there was a hole in my heart. My family and i cannot stand a house without a dog no more, after much much research and slow decision taking we decided to adopt another dog, this time we're gonna take it slow and now rush it (Oscar was a split decision, we fell in love with him even though we knew JRT wasn't the kind of dog for us.. So we finally adopted...
King Luca the Great
He is a 5 year old Golden retriever that is in a good need to a brushing! :-D
He's a very very very very well behaved. He knows not to go on furniture, he is toilet trained, he knows he is not allowed in the kitchen and bathroom (if he goes in you just say "out" and he leaves AWWH) -Toilet trained
he is used to being left at home by himself, his old owner works full time he stays at home for like 10hrs, but here he'll only be at home alone for 3 days of the week. You can leave a plate of food on teh ground and he won't touch it, because he knows its not his.
I'm so lucky to have him, he's such a good boy.
I love you Luca.

Happy for you
Glad you found the right dog. Luca does look like a well behaved dog and a nice happy dog. I have a cocker/golden retriever mix (and a pure cocker) so I am 'drawn' to your dog as he reminds me of my mixed breed a little. I have an album of my 2 on my profile page if you'd like to see them. You prob. won't see the resemblance as he shows a lot of cocker too but I know where to look---length of body, type of coat, some facial features, and the way the hair is on his legs for a few things. This may sound 'nuts' but I can almost see (feel) the same characteristics in your dog as what I see in my mix! Anyway have a good time with your new member of your family! Lol, if you check my '2 boys' out the mix is called Corky (so you know which one he is for sure!

Congrats on Luca! Having to "rehome" a dog before I understand the "need" for another. Good Luck with him! Enjoy

Luca wasn't adopted he was bought.
We rehomed him to a lady who has another JRT (she had 2 but one recently died and so the other one is lonely) she lives on a 14acre farm land and she's home during the day and stuff so he's pretty happy there

congrats,
Our first dog was a Golden and he devoted his like to making us happy. I would recommend a Golden any day. We still have pictures of him but mainly just fond memories. Good luck with Luca ,I hope you will all be happy together!

We just brushed Luca's teeth, now he smells very nice, especially after going to the grromers. he did though get a dog scratch on his nose from playing with a boxer puppy... We're going to the vet after school and going to talk to the vet about putting him on a diet and about his nose.

Just Noticed Something in a Pic You Posted!!
That bucket your dog is drinking from looks like it is a GALVANIZED pail---meaning plated with zinc. This is dangerous for your dog (as well as humans--Have you ever heard of galvanized nails--that you aren't suppose to stick them in your mouth!) Your dog could absorb this zinc and could make him sick and eventually poison him!! This is what happens to dogs that swallow pennies! (They have zinc in them!--I did a post in here on pennies--Think if you go to the blue strip across the page (with the white words)--Find the word Search--click on it and put word penny in and find thread (not post) you will find the thread by me Corky/Max. I hope you will find a stainless steel water bowl for your baby!! I know you love your dog and want to keep him healthy.
The info I gave to see about the pennies above is going to work (I just checked it out) You will need to find the title of thread after you get in to all of the above info--Title is Foods that are hazardous to a dog--on page 2--post #17. Let me know if you can't find it. While you are in that thread (if you haven't seen this thread before) you might want to check out the whole thread--You will prob. see something in the long list of 'no-no's' that you weren't aware of before!

Have you ever noticed that golden retrievers always seem to have a big smile on their faces?

I'm so glad you were able to find a good home for your jack russell. I have one myself and I know they are very different from most other breeds. Unfortunately, people who buy or adopt them are often not aware of their special needs. That's why there are so many JRT's in shelters and rescues.
I'm really lucky to have retired very early so I have plenty of time to spend with both of my girls (my other girl is a border collie X) and am able to ensure that they get plenty of time outside to expend all of that energy.
Your jack russell will have a great life living in the country!
