Default Does anyone out there do rescue or rescue transports?

Just wondering if anyone out there participates in either of these things?

12 of my dogs are rescues. I no longer work directly with any organization but these days rescue privately or should I say, so many know who I am I am one of the first people that is contacted especially when it comes to Miniature Pinschers. I have a friend who transports all over the country for several rescue groups. Page Title
Harold actual transports more than pinschers. He is a long haul driver who goes coast to coast so it is not uncommon for him to have passengers.

That is awesome of your friend!!

The link in my signature is the group I started on here for Transports. I'd love for anyone to join that group so that we have more contacts!

4 of my 5 cats are rescues and all 5 dogs are as well!
I used to do a lot of fostering for dogs, but right now I just do kittens. I have 7 of them at the moment!

In my case the dogs were generally special needs, seniors or had temperament issues that were leading them to be euthanized. So it was a no brainer for me.

My Miniature Pinscher couldn't be kept anymore due to allergies and she needed homes for all of hers quickly (I don't know what would have happened with them if she couldn't find homes...)

My Chihuahua mix came from a HORRIBLE place...very "puppy millish" so I got her out of there.

Our Shepherd was also kept in very horrible conditions and was very close to being killed by the 3/4 wolf being caged next to her...on top of that the guy that had her didn't know how to handle a dog at all.

Our Rottweiler/Pit Bull mix had behavioral issues as a puppy. They went away, but now they are presenting themselves again. We've had her since she was 5 weeks old, she was a foster of mine and I wouldn't allow her to be placed. I knew she'd be put down if I did.

Our Doberman...we didn't realize we were rescuing her until we met her...she has a laundry basket full of health issues and didn't connect to ANY humans until she was around 9 months old.

We do rescue as well. We are not set up with any organization, we seem to be 'the people to call' and get alot of calls on rescue. We do it on a small scale right now with the economy and all since we pay for everything ourselves with food, vet care (most rescues require ALOT), spay/nueters, ect.

Have done a little transport, but have not been as active as I would like in that department. With a 2 yr old it makes it a bit tougher. plus, there doesnt seem to be alot of transports coming through our way usually.

I so much wish that I could be involved in something like that but, I gave up my car a number of years ago. I do however, take in fosters on very short notice. I usually get animals that require medication by injection because I know how to do it or pups and kittens who have been either orphaned or rejected by mom and need round the clock care since I'm home all day.

Lara's mom...fostering ans saving lives is a great contribution and very noble to do without transporting

We all try to help in our own way as we are able, and what you do is just as great.

Lara - you do a great thing!!

I really love doing transports, they are so much fun for me since I don't do dog foster care anymore.

I occasionally help out at Operation Kindness in Dallas, "North Texas' oldest and largest no-kill animal shelter."

Good people. Great dogs. I want to adopt them all!

This is a great question. With the economy bad, people are either moving to new places that don't allow pets or are just getting rid of their animals to save money. Rescues need our help now more than ever.

I also do resuces. I have one right now and he will soon be going to his new home. My hubby don't want me to get rid of him. We both have fell in love with him but just like i told him we can't keep them all. But i would if i could. I also put out all the money for the vet and food and try to get them to their new home myself. It brakes my heart when they have to leave me but i know that i will have a place for another one when the time comes.
