I just bought a puppy about a month ago, he's a 4 months old Foxie crossed Red Heeler. My girlfriend knew that she is allergic to cats and dogs, but since she's has no allergic reactions to my cat, she thought it would be ok for me to get a dog and has been 100% supportive with the idea. When ever she comes over she gets rashes, asthma, runny nose, cough, the whole works, I've tried to keep the house clean and wash him once a week, her allergies are a little better now, but she still has some allergies. I've been trying to do a bit of research on the internet and most people just say keep the house and the dog clean, which is already what I'm doing, and others are saying there are medications for it but can get quite expensive.

I've tried training my dog to be an outside dog, but finding it a bit hard, of course I will keep trying, ideally I would like to be closer with my dog, so I'm hoping there is a solution to the allergies, so I can be close to the two things I love.

My question is, can you recommend any other ways of getting rid of her allergies? an inexpensive solution would be great!

The only thing I can think of would be allergy shots. the OTC remedies for allergies have to be taken continuously and aren't even effective for some people. Is this a long term serious relationship? I'm asking because it may come down to a choice between your dog and the girlfriend. I certainly don't envy you the choice if it comes down to that. Look into allergy shots.
