My husband is going to kill me!
Me and my husband were looking for a Saint Bernard to adopt and we we filled out applications for a Saint Bernard rescue. After filling out a very detailed application and getting a home inspection, we were approved for a special needs Saint bernard. She is 5 years old and has hip dysplasia. Vet bills! Well, they forgot to take us off of their waiting list and had anoher Saint Bernard flown in from New York. A one year old male that is very active. They did not notify me and ask me if I approved of the match before having it sent. They only sent me an e-mail telling me that my dog is in Cincinatti and I need to pick it up. I have not told my husband yet, and i do not want the dog to go back whatever problems it came from. So I am going to pick it up. Any suggestions on what to tell my husband about having another Saint Bernard? And have any of you ever known of a rescue that has did this?

How about "Please don't kill me?" Seriously though, its weird that the shelter would do that. I've never heard of anything like that. I can understand your reluctance to send the dog back to former problems, but how much problems would he cause for you? Will your husband be very angry? Can you afford another dog financially and emotionally? If you can then go for it. But if it will cause trouble for you, you will be hurting the dog instead of helping it which defeats your purpose. Just something to consider.

I talked to him and he is perfectly ok with it. He even joked about giving the dogs his wallet. I called the rescue and made sure they took my name off the list this time.

Glad to know that you took in the new dog... and you really have a good husband...
Remind the rescue again they might forget to take your name from list again and be surprised of another dog that you need to pick up somewhere... lol

As long as they don't deliver a dog to your house, you should be good.

This obviously happened for a reason. This dog came to you because that is where he is supposed to be.
Enjoy both your dogs

When you came, show him immediately the dog, he will be stunned and fall in love with him! Congratulations, waiting for any pics.

If you're anywhere as sneaky as my wife, you'll be able to figure out some way to sneak the puppy in and work your charm and make sure that he can't say no :-). I couldn't (and probably don't want to) count how many animals my wife has brought home over the years. That isn't mentioning the ones that the kids have...

I can't find my cord to download pics of the two together. Bummer. Right now they are sleeping together. So cute. The puppy fell asleep on Ryan's lap the first night. As soon as he came in our house, he pooped on our rug. Both of us at the same time said "Listen here, Buster!" and Buster became his name. Now we have to figure out how we are going to sleep in our own bed with 2 Saint Bernards.
