Saint Bernard puppy question
Almost everywhere I have looked says a Saint Bernard puppy is more active than an older Saint bernard. We rescued a senior saint bernard and then got a puppy later. The puppy is even lazier than our senior dog. He lays down to eat, pees and then lays down, takes a few steps and then lays down. Training him is turning out to be a nightmare because of his laziness. I get him to sit once and he lays down. He seems really healthy (chubby) and he has bright eyes. Is there a way to motivate him? If treats are not placed where he can reach them, they are of no interest to him. Also, I give him puppy food and he insists on eating our Sammie's adult dog food. I feed her Iams adult large breed and the puppy gets Iams puppy large breed. Is eating the adult large breed food going to be detrimental to my puppy's long term health or is it perfectly ok? I have come to the conclusion that all Saint Bernards are just big area rugs that get up to eat and poop every now and then.
