Default Holistic dog food

Bench & Feild sent me a fee bag of holistic dog food. I gave a little to my picky puppy and he scarfed it down like he was starving. He really loved it.I have never seen him eat with so much enthusiasm. I was wondering if Bench & Feild was a good dog food or just another bag of dog candy. I tried researching it, but I really suck at research. Anybody else out there use it or has heard about it and want to offer your oppinions?

I've never heard of or seen that brand of food in the pet food stores so I know it isn't available in Canada; at least the part that I live in.

O.k. Did a quick check online. The one thing that stands out for me is that the main protein source is chicken meal or lamb meal instead of chicken or lamb. There is apparently a holistic brand of this food and a non-holistic brand. They use quinoa for the grain element which is interesting. Apparently, quinoa is very healthy. It's mostly available via the Internet. The rest of the ingredients seem alright as far as I understand them. There appears to be a lot of added vitamins, etc. to this food. Unfortunately, there isn't all that much information available.

I couldn't find much info either. But my very picky puppy seems to like it. So I am going to mix it with his regular food and see how it goes.

I actually heard a little about B&F with good comments but didn't actually see the ingredients. But it sounds like a good food, maybe you can consult about the food on your next vet visit.

I will do that. I might have to mix this food with something else though. Since he has been on it, he has turned into a little chubby butt. Not really a good idea to have an overwieght giant breed due to bone and hip problems. So this coming week when I take him to the vet, I will ask the vet about his diet.

It could well be that it is a highly concentrated food and so you need to feed less of it. The vet should know.
