Post Bringing Home 8 Week old, please help...

I am bringing home my third dog on Monday at Noon, and well I need a bit of advice. His name is Dagwood (may change) and he is the youngest puppy I have ever had. I have a 5 month old now but didn't bring him until 14 weeks, so my first question is, is there a diffence in a 8 week old and a 14 week old? If so, what do I need to suspect.

My other questions are...

What puppy items will I need? I have started shopping and have some but I want to be very prepared.

He is a Basset Mix, has anyone ever had one along with Rabbits?

What is the best puppy food for a small/med size dog?

What is the best method to housetrain? I have used the just positive praise, will this work the same for a younger puppy?

I think that is it for now, but I may have more that I have lost though out the day. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Don't forget a crate and ear cleaning fluid. I use baby wipes to clean my dogs' ears. Nail clippers, stiptic powder. I think your puppy should stay with his mommy until at least 10 weeks. I picked mine up at 11 weeks even though 12 weeks is the ideal time to get your puppy. He has more time to learn nipping manners from his mommy and littermates.

Eight weeks is really early to be separated from mom...I generally don't let my rescue puppies go until 12 weeks. They need that time to learn things from their mom. You will have to take over that role now...
