Order Flea Protection without prescription
I recently found this site..was givin to me by a friend who knew I didnt like to pay $200 for a 6 month supply of Revolution for my one dog. So I opted to not do flea protection. Here is the site that is Australia based but prices are in US currency and because they are shipping from a country where a prescription is not needed...you dont have to pay ridiculous [rices at your vet for the stuff they sell..

$200 for a 6 mo. supply of Revolution?!?!
You're talking about one dog, right? You don't have to answer but, I'm curious as to where you live that the prices are so high! I live in Canada where EVERYTHING is more expensive and I only pay $80 for each of my two dogs!

Well you may have a good vet. The cheapest vet here for my three smaller dogs for revolution was $100 for two and the other one because he weighed a little more was $115, my pit bull costed $140 and my Malinois's costed $190 each. Pretty pathetic eh? You dont even want me going into vaccine prices for them. I am in Niagara Region, Ontario

Could it have something to do with the size? I have a border collie/spaniel X and a shorty JRT. I pay the same for each of their packages of Revolution.
I guess if I really trusted the vet I had, I'd pay it but I live in Toronto on the border of the Annex and Yorkville so, you'd expect the prices to be a bit higher. I know he charges more than my friends vets out in the suburbs but he's five minutes away from me and that means a lot. Still, what you're paying seems really over the top!

Well I get the packages with a 6 month supply. Start in May or June and finish October or November.....Since fleas are abundant where I live. So if I order off that site it would still be cheaper than what I pay at the vets now. Because my vet also every year requires I do a heartworm test..if I refuse he will not sell me the revolution sicne it protects against heartworms to. I am not about to pay $40 per dog for a heartworm test.

I'd give that a second thought...My Vet tests for heartworm every 2 years. I never thought heartworm was a real problem here but the Americans come to Canada to visit with their dogs and there is a lot of heartworm there, especially in the southern States. England was rabies free until the Chunnel...

Sadly thats the cheapest vet prices...anyone else is almost $30 more. Mine does heartworm every year...its dumb. Also if I call mine up and say my dog is reverse sneezing what can I do..he wants to see him....if I call and say he cut him nose a little bit screwing around with the caat who has nails...he wants to see him. Yet all he does is look at it..say polysporin and charges me the exam fee and then thats it.
theres a vet in my are who also cannot spay a female right...:???: Friend brought her female Borzoi in to be fixed and the dog went into heat 3 months later and got pregnant. Make any sense to you?

Frankly, I'm such a nervous mother that if either of mine sneeze three times, I'm on my way to the Doctor with them! When my border collie Bailey was a puppy (12 years ago) her Doctor finally told me, "There is NOTHING wrong with this puppy. However, if you don't let her play in the dirt and stop washing her toys constantly, there will be." I had every electrical cord covered, every wall plug covered, every possible place where she could find trouble blocked off...I was a "little over the top." We made a lot of trips to the vet before I was told that the next time Bailey showed up there, there had better be a little dirt on her paws!
As for that vet, he either deliberately ripped her off or, he is so incompetent that his licence to practice should be used as toilet tissue! You would think that spaying/neutering would be pretty basic - veterinary school 101. I hope your friend changed vets!!!
I also get a 6 months supply of Revolution for each dog.

Heartworm issues are more found in the Southeast and central plains area of the US. On the west coast we rarely see it at all.
As for flea treatment, I use advantage and even with my 20 dogs, the cost is less than $80.00. Usually buy the 55 and over than dose out the treatments. It is not that hard with a needless 1.0 ml syringe. 10lbs take 0.4 ml per treatment.
Dogs 55 and over take 4.0. A full syringe is equivalent to 2 and 1/2 doses for a 10lbs dog. Buying a 6 pack obviously and dosing it out based on the size of the dog is far less expensive than purchasing pre-dosed vials. You just have to be patient when drawing it. Reading the package tells you the individual doses for the dog based on size. It is just simply math to divide accordingly. If I were to purchase a 6 month supply of pre-dosed advantage for the dogs I would be looking at over $1000.00. It obviously is a much cheaper to dose mine using the larger breed vials which are only a few dollars more than the small dog units.

Well that vet was a little odd. She also mis diagnosed my one rottweiler for having severe hip dysplasia, took him to another vet and he said he has nothing wrong with his hips at all. She was always grumpy when I went for appointments and talked to me like I was stupid. I left her and so did my friend. If and when you move here let me know and I will let you know the name of that vet.
Now vets here all it is to them in money. This here proves it. My friend had a yellow lab, Carlson was my friends service dog. At 5 years old he ate and drank way to fast and he tortioned. I rushed over to her house and drove her and the dog to the vet where they before would look at the dog made sure she could pay....she got paid in two days and was able to pay in half chunks depending on the cost. She even showed the vet the paperwork showing she got paid in 2 days...the vet denied her. Keep in mind this vet has been this dogs vet for 5 years, plus her previous dog was with this vet for 12 years.
So we went to another vet who denied her also. This vet made her fill out paperwork with her credit card information to insure she could pay for treatment. That vet turned her down
So we went back to the other vet and I told him I would come in in 2 days and pay the full amount since our paydays were on the same date. He said No and I showed him I could afford to pay it. Anywho the dog ended up dying painfully in the reception area in front of a few other clients who got up, told the receptionist to take them off their client list..and walked out. The vet came out and and I advised him if he wanted to keep all his teeth he should not come any closer to me. I told his he was a cruel heartless person who has not heard the end of this. I sat outside his office for a good 2 weeks with posters with my friends story..he lost a good half his clients and since has gone out of business. Yeah it was wrong...but the least he could of done was euthanize him which he refused to do as well.
I have yet to meet one vet that gives a crap about the animals first them money second. I can understand people have up and left with out paying...but should those people ruin it for the people who are honest and pay?

I am just shocked beyond words...Sick to my stomach!!! To think that two different vets allowed a dog to suffer like that...I don't even know what to say. I'm just stunned speechless.

Yes, small plastic vials (packets). Use the cap to open the vial, then using a 1ml syringe (without a needle) draw the proper amount into it from the vial.
For Advantage, dogs 10lbs and under take 0.4 ml per dose. By reading the box based on the size of your dog, it will tell you in ML how much is in each vial. (packet). Now divide that by the amount needed based on the dose for your particular dog. For me as most are 10lbs variety, I buy a 4 pack of the 55 lbs plus dog Advantage. There is 4.0 ml in each vial. This comes out to be 10 dosages or enough to do 10 10lbs dogs. There is enough in 1.0 ML for 2 complete dogs and 0.2 ml left. Being the total dosage in one vial of 55lbs plus is 4.0 ML when divided by 0.4 you get 10 dosages. Note, there is no needle in the syringe. You just use the finest you can obtain and carefully draw from the vial to appropriate ml based on the amount noted from the box. Each box and vial tells you how much it contains in ML's. All you are doing is taking that amount and drawing the syringe to the point on the syringe where it is the equivalent to what a separate vial for your particular dogs weight would be. I draw to 0.4 on the syringe which is marked by 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 etc to 1.0.
A four pack of 55lbs plus Advantage is enough to do 40 10lbs dogs.

Tell me about it. It still upsets me to this day. My friend cant go to another breeder to get another service dog. She doesnt have the heart she says after what happened to her friend she thinks she doesnt deserve to own dogs. Little does she know that I have reserved her a puppy and paid for it already.

I guess I am somewhat fortunate. My recent vet is one I have been going to for nearly 10 years now and at one point owed him $2500.00. I since have a credit line of $500.00 which I am always over like now (currently $1100.00)
My recent trips though I have paid cash for the appts by agreement between the 2 of us to avoid a re-occurrence of seeing my balance that high.

That is incredibly kind of you!!! Your friend will be so surprised! To avoid something terrible happening like what happened to her last dog, you might want to suggest to her that she get her dog insured. My girls are insured with Petsecure. It has been a Godsend, especially with my older dog who is beginning to have some medical issues now. I get back 80% of whatever I have to put out and a lot of vets will wait for the insurance claim to come through provided you pay 20% of the bill upfront.

Now onto pet insurance. My friend was with pet secure with her previous lab. He cleared the testing etc. At 5 the dog developed hip issues and since they couldnt get away with the "its a pre existing condition" because she had all testing done by the vet prior to getting him insured at 2....they used the "its a hereditary condition" excuse to get out of paying her claim. She got stuck with a $3000 vet bill. This also happened to a few other friend of mine and hers through pet secure and other companies. Thats why I do not do insurance on my animals.

I am really fortunate. Both of my girls Dr.s are wonderful! I've never had any problems with my insurance company either. They've been great! The vets office sends the claim in the same day and I get a cheque about five days later. A good vet is worth his or her weight in gold!
