| Me and Luna had a bad Day
The other day I let the dogs out. Luna likes to run me over out in the yard when i call the dogs back. So I learned to stand behind the deck railing when I call them back. But Buster was having listening problems and I had to go out and get him, and Luna ran me over and dislocated my shoulder and tore the tendons and ligaments. So I had to go to the hospital and get treated.
I get home and sit down for a while. I have a sling on one arm and the baby in the other. Luna jumped over my husband's recliner and lands on me and the baby. I was trying to get her off of the baby. The baby has bruises where Luna walked on her and I got 3 cracked ribs where she jumped on me.
When I went in for my 2nd trip to the hospital in one day, they questioned me and asked me if I was being abused at home. I told them no. The dog did this. They must have contacted social services, because they showed up at my home later and asked me if I was being abused. The lady kept acting like I was lying to her when I told her the dog did it. My husband has never even yelled at me and we have never had an argument the whole time we have been together. She did not believe that. So I went and let the overexuberant Luna out of the kitchen and she almost knocked the lady over.
The lady told me my dog needed ritalin or something and left.
I seriously need to do something about Luna. She gets so excited to see me that she cannot stop herself and I can't stop her when she wants to run me over or sit on me. She has given me some serious injuries this time. I know this might be blasphemy on this site, but I am seriously considering getting a remote control e-collar so I can give her a jolt before she runs over me or sits on me again.
I know...some people are going to be negative about this. "I would NEVER put one of those things on MY dog!" I used to think that, but now it seems like an emergengy option so my dog doesn't hurt me anymore. She isn't mean and doesn't do this on purpose. She gets so excited that I end up injured as a result. With all of the bruises that I have aquired since I have gotten her, I do look like an abuse victim. For most training, it takes time and patience. I do know this. But in the time it will take to properly train her, she could hurt me again. I have spent lots of time going over this in my head about using an e-collar. But I feel that it might be useful in this instance to keep me and the baby safe.

You have to keep yourself and the baby safe. I know she doesn't mean to do it but, she's huge and heavy and she has injured you twice already. Do what you feel you have to do.

| Luna:
Hope you and the baby are feeling better today. A dislocated shoulder and cracked ribs have got to hurt terribly. Did the Doctor give you some pain meds?
I know it's a serious situation but, I couldn't stop laughing when I read the bit about how social services showed up at your door. That must have been the last bloody straw after an absolutely hellish day!!! I can only imagine the sight of you all bandaged up and with a bruised baby to boot, opening the door to a suspicious social services worker!!!
This is one time that you are actually lucky that Luna behaved true to form. If she had suddenly been a perfect angel, you might have found your "battered" self, bruised baby and three St. Bernards bailing your husband out of the local jail!!!
I hope I'm not the only one who despite the seriousness of the situation, sees an element of humour...

That's horrible! Just think what would have happened if Luna landed directly on your baby! I would immediately enroll your dog in a obedience class and take time out of the day to teach her correct behavior.
In my experience depending on the dog electronic training collars will worked if used correctly and consistently in combination with verbal commands. Electronic correction collars train using fear and pain and if you want to train in a different (and better IMHO) way try using a Spray Dog Collar, these collars usually use citronella, a scent which is completely new to dogs, and they work in the same manner as a traditional training collar, you press the button on the remote and a spray is administered.
Whatever you decide you need to find a way to ensure that you and your family is safe from an overly friendly dog. My best advice is lots of exercise and lots of training. Be consistent and stick it out.
Good luck!

I am an obedience trainer. But I don't think I can train her jumping and running over me problem quick anough to avoid further injury. And yes, I do see the humour in the situation, but it hurts too much to laugh. I thought I was going to die of pain when I laughed about Buster using the litterbox.

You could make some serious money if you could get a shot of Buster pooping in the cat litter!

Have you gotten the collar yet? You have to do something before you end up in traction!!!

I have not gotten the collar. I put a 30 ft. teather out in the yard for Luna. She can not get enough speed up to run over me on the teather. And the teather stops just short of the porch. So she hasn't ran me over out in the yard. In the house, I have only had one more instance of her sitting on me. I have been making sure that Luna has been staying calm inside the house. If she is not, I will go put her in the kitchen for a little while.
