Things like this just make me sick. Unfortunately, until the animal cruelty laws in North America are changed to adequately reflect the suffering and cruelty perpetrated by these S.O.B.'s, we will continue to see scenes of horror such as this repeated time and time again.

I like that, a lot. Don't you love how Michael Vick is back in the NFL again? I can't believe the NFL would allow him back in after he was convicted of running a dog fighting ring at his house. He is such a POS and I wish America would boycott the NFL until he is forced to leave. He does not deserve to be paid millions of dollars again - but, I'm sure he is. We are pretty much sending the message that "dog fighting is ok, as long as you don't get caught. But, if you do, it's just slap on the wrist and you can go right back to it after all this has blown over."

My blood boils every time I hear Michael Vick's name mentioned. As far as I'm concerned, he should still be rotting in a prison cell because that's exactly where he belongs and, he should NEVER have been allowed to play any kind of professional sports again. (If he'd been shot and pi**ed on, I wouldn't have lost any sleep over it!)

I am not disagreeing with the fact that laws need some examination...but we need to be careful that our horror does not lead us to inact laws foolishly...and inact foolish laws.
Laws are not a deturrant for crime. People who do this sort of thing are either sick...or just twisted enough that they do not care what the law tells them. Dog fighting laws have not stopped dog fighting. Breed ban laws have not stopped folks from keeping banned breeds....and so on...
To use breed ban laws ( in relation to dog fighting) as an example. I have had long discussions with a few AC officers whose tell me that all breed ban laws have done is had people who want to fight dogs have just move on to breeds that are not banned.
So in this instance what good has the law done?

The law will stop those willing to break it in the first place.

You make a good point with regard to the breed ban laws. In many places, dog fighting has just moved further underground and different breeds are being used. It was never the dogs that needed to be banned. It was the idiots who deliberately raise dogs to be vicious and to fight that really needed to be banned!

Seeing the thread I immediately take a look at the google to see this news and my heart broke into pieces seeing many sites posted about this terrible news. People are really sick..

Oh my god, that is so sick... So twisted... What kind of monster can do that to animals? Ugh. Those poor dogs. Glad the surviving ones were rescued.

If this guy was mentally ill as stated in the news article... I can't help but wonder = what about his family? Even though they had moved... Isn't there one family member or friend or someone who would know what was going on and have put a stop to this long ago before it got to this point? This is just so sad.
