I'm going to be a mom again!!!
After many long and involved discussions with Lara's breeder (Kim), it has finally been decided. I will be adopting a show quality male Jack Russell (shorty). His name is Superflys Sir Lancelot. I'll call him Lance. He is Lara's brother, two litters after the one she came from - same parents.
Kim will pay for all the genetic testing. I'll raise him and he will be my little boy. When he is of age, Kim will use him for a stud. Apparently, I will get a "stud fee" - whatever that is...Kim will get first pick of the puppies.
He's just turned four weeks old so, I won't be bringing him home for six to eight weeks yet. He needs lots more time with his biological mom. I'm so excited!!! He is an incredibly cute little guy! I'll post a picture of him in my album since I can't for the life of me, figure how to post one in the threads.
Kim and I became very good friends after I got Lara from her and we've kept in touch frequently. Is this the way these arrangements normally work or am I getting a special arrangement because I already have one of her dogs?

How much should I charge for a stud fee?? My yorkie has... - Q&A Also if you put stud fee/dog in your browser--there are a lot more sites on this.

Congrats on your new boy!
The arrangement isnt your typical one, likely because you already have one of hers and have a good relationship with her. This way she can have access to her male without having to keep him herself, and in turn you get the dog you wanted too.
If it works for the both of you, then its a good deal, lol. Will all the things mentioned be in writing?
IMO if she is giving you the dog, paying for testing, etc...I would not charge her for stud service. I have always given free access to the males that I get from anyone that I did not have to pay for, let alone have all the genetic testing paid for as well for you....kind of a return favor.
As far as studding out to others besides her. I would look into see what the going rate is for an untitled stud service in the breed. His fee would increase if you were to get any conformation titles on him as well.
Cant wait to see pics!

Everything will be in writing. However, his arrival may be delayed because I just found out yesterday that I'll be moving on Dec. 15th!!!
With everything going on so close to the holidays, Christmas dinner this year may just end up being whatever is open and delivers on Christmas day!!!
Frankly, I really don't want the stud fee. I'd rather she kept it for her future litters. I'll talk to her about it.
