Aussie mix.......with what???
Hi everyone. I'm wondering what your thoughts are on our new rescue puppy.
I will attach some pictures.
We are told he is (mini) Aussie mix. I don't believe he is "mini". I am trying to figure out what other breed possiblities he has too.
I belive he is 8 weeks old now. Of the litter of seven several had blue eyes. His look green to me. He is the darkest of the light ones -he is more caramel. Then there was one tri (mostly black and tan), the others were a light biege color - different markings all resembling a sheltie, aussie, border collie.
Looking forward to everyone's thoughts..........

Thank you I was leaning that way too. I know it's impossible to be certain when it is truly an unknown.
I have a sheltie too - he's 3 years old. We love them both.

Well, if I weren't to know there was Aussie in there somewhere, I'd say Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, but that's a long shot. Probably Ausie / Yellow Lab or Aussie / Golden Retriever.

pit bull?
Thank you guys - i really appreciate it.
Do you see any Pit bull in him?
He is a beautiful puppy. Extremely smart! (I didn't expect him to compare to my Sheltie
He has incredible green eyes - just a hint of brown. I wonder if they will change?
just a few more pictures.
oh wow- he does look like a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever.. hmmm.
beautiful dogs!

Doesn't look like any pitbull to me but it doesn't look like an aussie to me either. Do you know what the mother dog is at all?
This pup is still pretty young and will change in looks. I think the golden retriever and the golden lab prob. look a lot alike at this age. I am leaning toward lab but if the hair gets longer and has a lot of feathering I would go with the Golden Retiever! I have a Golden/cocker mix but his face is a combo of the 2 so I can't be the best judge of your dog's face. And You do know that the mother dog could have been bred by more than 1 male and have pups that are not the same mixes!
By the way---Very good looking collie you have and very healthy looking too! OOPS guess this is a shetland but they do look a lot alike if you disregard the size! How much does she/he weigh?

That is the problem, I have no idea what the mother looks like. I adopted him from a local Humane Society who pulled him from a nearby county because the officer there called and said that he thought the puppies (7 total) were too young to be away from their mom. The owner who surrendered the puppies said they were 6 weeks old (but I think they suspect they were actually younger). I tried to get more info ..why they were surrendered..etc.
I was able to only get that they are Mini-Aussie mixes (just repeating what I was told) they also said they think they will only get 35-45lbs. I did see some of the siblings. It really doesn't matter - just more curiousity and it's kind of nice to know what breeds are in your dog, if that makes any sense.
Toby is the darkest color - he's the only one w/ the carmel color - there was a tri looking one (that had markings resembling a sheltie or aussie), 2 lighter blonde ones w/ yet similar markings to sheltie, aussie, border collie, a dark brown and I think there was a black one or two w/ some white).
I wish I could have gotten more info... anything..else about their mom at least. I called the animal control place where the puppies were surrendered but they said they don't keep info on the dogs once they leave.
Anyway -- thanks for all your input and I enjoy chatting and reading the forums.
Have a great day!
*** I'd never have thought Aussie ever - just by looking at them***
I didn't think about his coat changing -- like feathers..etc.

Thank you - yes, he's a shetland he actually weighs 28 lbs. He's not a tiny petite one for sure but he looks good - healthy. The vet says he is not overweight - I was concerned. He is an amazing dog!! (Sam).
