He is 7 weeks old, I just got him & we dont know what kind he is, any help is greatly appreciated! I have a picture on photobucket, but it wont let me post links yet so its here just add http to it

Its so hard to tell when they are chubby babies.. He looks like a black lab or lab mix to me.

It's impossible to say really - so many pups look alike. When my Patterdale was a pup people were forever guessing her breed and we had everything - chow? lab? Great Dane? She is six years old now, very fine features and weighs 18 lbs!

Did you choose her from a litter? What were the others like? Did you see mum?

I didn't get to see the mother. Here's the story my girlfriends best friend got the dog 4 days ago, she has a pomeranian & it didnt get along with the puppy, so she asked us if we wanted him & I just couldnt say no, I mean he is the sweetest & cutest puppy I have ever seen. She said the mom was a Jack Russell & the dad was a Rottweiler, i find this hard to believe because I do know a bit about dogs & breeding & i know this is very rare & not safe. i have reason to believe just fromt the look of the puppy that he could be a lab/pit bull mix, but I really have no clue. My girlfriend took him to the vet yesterday & they said he was a beautiful, well behaved & sweet puppy & that he looks to have some lab in him & that they could do a DNA search & find out exactly what he is, but that the test are still kind of iffy, so Im not sure what to do. i think ill wait a while & let him get bigger & see how he grows.

I agree with maybe some pit and rot. Pit was the first thing that popped into my mind after looking at the broad skull structure. Very cute by the way!
