Smile Preparing for Your new Puppy

Owning a pet is a wonderful experience for any family. If you are planning on adopting a pet there are many ways you need to prepare your home. It doesn't matter if you are getting a cat or dog, you will still need to
prepare accordingly. First of all you will need to buy a bed for your pet, these are very affordable at Wal-Mart, or you could even buy a regular pillow. It will be comfortable for your pet to sleep on and will make the new addition feel welcome. You will need to buy your pet a bowl for food and a bowl for water. You might want to buy an automatic waterer. You will also need to buy a variety of toys for the pet to play with. There are many kinds of toys that you can buy that will make your pet feel welcome, but also help keep them active. If you are getting a cat you will need to buy a litter box and kitty litter. If you are getting a puppy that hasn't been potty trained, you might want to consider buying a crate, so you can train them more easily. You will also want to buy a scratching post for a cat. Trust me it will save your furniture.

There are many other things that you need to do to prepare your home too. If you are getting a curious puppy, you will want to ensure that they cannot chew on electrical cords and other harmful items inside and outside your home. You will also need to make sure that the plants that you have inside and outside the home are not toxic. There are many other items that are toxic to pets. There are a few more things that you should consider getting rid of. Blinds are very bad to have in your home because the pet can get tangles up in them. They will not only panic and try to run, but they can really harm themselves by doing so. It is best just not to even have them in your home. As I mentioned earlier if you have any plants that are toxic to pets, you will want to get rid of them completely. Even if they are put up high, they still might be able to reach them. If they ingest them, they will get sick, but they could also die from one little nibble.
No matter what pet you get, you will need to prepare your home. Puppies like to chew on things, so you will need to puppy proof your home. You will also need to make sure that there is nothing in your home that can harm
your pet. You will need to buy the items you need to take care of your pets needs. With this guide you will be able to think about the items that you really need.

Just something to add...

They say you should try not to get a new puppy on a holioday like christmas or someting because all the confusion and excitement can be very stressful for them in the new enviroment.
