Default High pH in Sibe or other dogs

Has anyone had any experience with their doggie having a high pH? Our 7-yr old Sibe had a UTI and also a pH of ~8.5. The vet put her on c/d which she ate for a while then decided she didn't like that. Then he put her on IVD--same story. Since then, we've used Methi-Gel to lower her pH and now she takes Methio-Tabs with her regular dog food, Sensible Choice. It seems to have stabilized her around 6.5. Our goal would be go get her off the Rx while keeping her on a high-quality dog food. Any comments or experience with this? Thanks! :?:

Sorry I don't have any advise for you regarding PH in dogs, but it is a good thing for all of us to have checked once in a while to prevent a raging case of UTI in our dogs. Thanks for the heads up and I hope that you have success with the new food and can get her off the meds.

Hi there! I don't have any experience on that aspect but what I could advice to change your dog's diet. Have you heard ProPlan already? That's the food i fed my dog and its been five years now that I experienced problem like that and seeing my vet...By the way ProPlan i think is made by Purina..you can be sure of high quality.

These are the first 10 ingredients of Pro-Plan
brewers rice
corn gluten meal
whole grain wheat
whole grain corn
animal fat preserved with mixed-tocopherols (form of Vitamin E)
poultry by-product meal (natural source of glucosamine)
fish meal (natural source of glucosamine)

This is not considered high quality nor is anything made by Purina or Pedigree......It is full of corn and wheat which are of no nutritional value to a dog it is nothing more then fillers....Both of these are also high allergens for a lot of dogs...

By-product of any meat is simply the parts of the animal not fit for human consumption....

I would not feed my Akita or my Husky anything made by Purina or Pedigree.....

Don't have any experience either. Ask your vet about raw diet as alternative, dogs in wild was fed by raw, they are nutritious and very good for dogs.

I havent experienced anything like that... But i think there are something that is triggering (maybe in your pet's diet) your pet's UTI...

Change your dog's diet. Avoid grain, rice, beef derivatives and dairy food.
