I Want to learn to be a Professional Dog Groomer
I live in South Palm Beach County Florida and am trying to find a groomer that would take me under their wing and teach me what I would need to know to become a Professional Dog Groomer. I investigated the Local Dog grooming schools and they really do not impress me as being professional.
I am willing to invest my time with a professional groomer in order to get the knowledge and experience necessary.
Any positive advice would be greatly appreciated.

I guess grooming schools are different in the U.S. Here in Canada, they are very professional. If the schools don't appeal to you, I'd suggest you make a list of all the grooming salons in your area. Then, go and check them out. Some are far superior to others. When you've selected the ones you like, approach the head groomer and ask if you could speak with him/her at their convenience and then state your case.
I don't know what the rules are in America but, it just may be that you have to attend school in order to receive your certification. There are a couple of professional groomers on the sight who I believe are Americans. Hopefully, they'll see your post and be able to give you more accurate information than I can. Best of luck to you!!!

Agreed. You must attend a school to become certified so I'd check as many out as possible and see if you can't find one you like. I'm sure there's one out there for you. Some people will hire groomers that aren't certified but the pay wouldn't be for nearly as much and the odds of getting the job before a certified groomer would be slim to none. Good luck though.

Still Looking to be trained as a Dog Groomer
There are only 4 Pet Grooming Schools with an hours drive from where I live. One is an hour away and cost $7,000 and would take 8 months to complete, the second school is currently up or sale and I feel reluctant to pay $5,700 and then find out that they closed or the new owner isn't as skilled to teach as the former owner was, the third school when I went to visit only had one dog to groom and 12 empty dog pens with stuffed dogs inside and not to much equipment, and the fourth school looked the same as the third school.
I have stopped into about 6 groomer businesses and offered my free labor in return to being trained by them, I am willing to start from the bottom up. Still no positive results. I have also search online and am not sure about online training, without having the real dogs to practice on.
I won't give up but it is becoming a real challenge in Palm Beach County Florida.
I really do appreciate any additional ides or suggestions.
Thank you all for your help.

The program outline and the promised skills should be first in your priority. But one best thing you can do is to look for some videos online, there are plenty of grooming tutorials free..
