Oh I've trained a few and you're not kidding! Seigi's getting a little better but it's going to be a while for sure before he gets out of the mouthing stage.

I know with the ones I keep, I don't always discourage it since mine are used for rats etc. It helps them in the long run. Even Bella my IG who is a ratter will mouth still and she is nearly 6 years old. Those that go to new homes, luckily the dam is good at correcting this. But it is fun when they think they are so tough at that age that they will take on anything. The 2 boys go after the cats which is fun to watch considering the male cats are between 18 and 22lbs. The pups just bounce off them or I will see one of the cats walk through the living room with a Pin pup biting onto them in tow.

LOL...I bet that's a funny sight to see....I took Seigi out to potty the other night and when I opened the front door there was a stray cat on the porch...Poor Seigi was scared half to death and refused to go outside until hubby got the cat off the porch...I guess he's still to little to realize he could've had the little kitty for lunch!

So I get up at 7am for Seigi's vet appt mind you I'm not a morning person...Well when I get there they tell me they gave me the wrong date since it hasn't been 3 weeks since his last booster...They could tell that even though I was nice about the mix up I wasn't happy!

They went ahead and trimmed his nails for me for free and it's usually $19.00 and they weighed him...Guess what guys...He weighs 25lbs...He gained 5lbs in 2 weeks...

The best part of the day though was to wake up and see that his other ear finally came up!!!!

You know you're a true dog lover when the high light of your day is your puppies ear standing...lol

Well my big fur ball Seigi went to the vet today for his Rabies and last set of puppy shots today...If you can believe it he's up to 36.4 lbs already..

When we got there today there were at least 4 cats wondering around the waiting room...My husband was just amazed because he showed a little bit of interest in them but not much more then that...I had to remind him that he's only 4 mths old and it hasn't dawned on him that he's an Akita and he could have them for lunch if he wanted to..

To my husbands dismay I also got him scheduled for his neutering on the 14th of July..We've gotten all of the basic obedience training done as well as him being completely housebroken now and to my total amazement I actually have an Akita who will retrieve his toys when you throw them and bring them back so you can throw it again..

Retrieving and liking the water are two things Akita's don't believe should be a part of an behavior or amongst the things they like and amazingly he loves them both...

I can't believe how lucky I got with him..He's just a pure joy!

Glad to hear he is doing so well. In my case the Pin boys lit out after the cats in full attack mode at 7 weeks and have not stopped yet. Thankfully the cats are much larger and are tolerant of puppies. I could see it now if Powder was not...a 20lbs cat throws a blow out one of the pups and it goes flying across the room.... but then again, it will definitely learn to not be so quick to observe the cats as prey or for that matter as moving toys.

LOL...Well so far Seigi's surprised me with his love for the water and the way he likes to retrieve so who knows maybe he'll turn out liking cats!..However if the way he tries to kill his stuffed animals is any indication then probably not...LOL

ditto here. I gave the boys stuffed animals after about a week of them going after the cats in hopes they would leave the cats alone. It took them only a few minutes to shred nearly every one of them before going back after the cats. Even things in the back yard are not safe. Just today I caught the Red one pulling a 9 foot branch out from under the willow tree. The damn thing weighed more than him and he drug that thing about 10 feet, laid down and gnawed on the end of it for a good 15 minutes before going on an attack mode after one of the adult dogs that ran by him. The Black boy decided blackberry vines may taste good so commenced chewing on them, thorns and all. After all these years raising Pinschers you think I would already realize that there is nothing a Miniature Pinscher will not try to shred and eat. It is a 24/7 babysitting having them around. I should have stayed with my Papillons or for that matter even my Aussies were less inclined to get into trouble as often as these boys do.

Everyone of them that I've had in my classes I've heard the same thing from all of their owners..Seigi so far hasn't been to bad although he's already started digging a tunnel to get out of his kennel outside and the other night he discoverwed he was tall enough now to climb up on the garbage can to get the chicken bones out...Never have an Akita who could resist chicken bones in a garbage can..lol..Even the best behaved ones!

Ree, trust me when I say that chicken bones in a garbage can gets all 28 of mine hyped and willing to kill the garbage can to get to them. I have now learned to keep it out of the yard. Instead they just sit there at the fence whining since they can still smell them. Disgusting
The pups I still keep in a pen but unfortunately the Black has learned to climb out if he is antsy. If I feed them, then at least he lays down and is content for about an hour, but then all hell breaks out in my bedroom. I have to go put my tennis shoes all 4 pairs back, the shoe boxes I keep or should say kept under my bed have now been shredded....looks like a 7 pound tornado went through the room.

LOL...Seigi has a shoe feddish to...Killed my new flip flops and a new pair of slippers in an hour...living with him is like living with a 2yr.old..I put all his toys away,he waits for the last one to go in the toy box and one by one he pulls them all out and puts them right back where they were..His new thing is his food and water bowls...He hets done eating and then carries them around the house except now he hides son about a half hour before he eats I have to go on the hunt for his bowls!
