Default This really makes me angry!

A few counties over from me a call was made to Animal Control about 2 dogs left outside in the heat...Turns out they were tied up in the backyard with no shade or shelter and no water...They to the dogs back to the shelter for treatment for heat exhaustion where the one died...he had a body temp of 106!!!

I don't understand how people can be so damn cruel never mind incredibly stupid!!.Why do people own pets if they don't want to care for them..

The owners will be charged but of course they'll probably just have to pay a fine...Maybe if they would toughen up the penalties for animal cruelty they might be able to reduce these problems even if it's by a small percentage....

I would love to tie those SOB'S to a tree in the sun and leave them there for hrs with no water and see how much they like it!!!!

I agree with you. This makes me angry too. I just don't understand what would fuel a person to do something like this. Don't they have a conscience???

Unhappy

It makes me mad too but sad is my main emotion when I hear of these kind of things happening--makes me cry. BUT I always say I'd like to hit the stupid uncaring idiots over the head with a baseball bat and I swear I would if I came upon some cruel person in the process of doing harm to an innocent dog.

Reminds me of the same type of idiot who leaves a dog in a car on a hot summer day...Are they just plain stupid?

I find it so hard to believe that there are people out there that have little regard for animals in their care, too many pet owners just see the animal they have in their home as a disposable item, to be played with when they want to play with it otherwise toss it out of sight........unfortunately, i have discovered in my life time there are just way too many of these sorts of people......I live in hope that one day they will all pay the price for their disregard.
It is NOT a right to own pets, it is a PRIVELIDGE, and a privelidge that should be earned.

I agree with everything everyone said. A dog is NOT an object. It is a living thing just like you and I. You're right, it is a priveidge to own a dog, not your right. To be honest. I feel that if this happens and the dogs died a person should be charged with a count of murder because dogs are living things just like us and it isn't alright to treat them like dirt. Now maybe murder would be to much to the extreme to ever be considered, but there should be a much higher penalty for something like this besides a fine. This situation should out the owners of the dog in prison for at least 2 years in my opinion. This would make people really stop and think twice before acting.

I feel so horrible with what happened and what those dogs have to suffer. Some people are really sick, some naturally don't like animals, but to the extend that those dogs have to suffer like that is considered crime..

It astounds me how people like us members will go out of our way even sacrificing things we may need to make sure that our pets have all they need from food to proper health care and some people can't or should I say won't provide their pets with even the most basic things like food, water and shelter...

For a long time I had thought about becoming and AC officer until my husband reminded me that I would surely go to jail for assualting the scum that does these horribly cruel things...He's very right!...I'm sure I would because I have no patience for people who intentionaly hurt and neglect innocent animals!

Not to put all Menenites in the same bucket, but a couple of years ago I saw this horse outside in the sun with no water, for hours. I got sick of looking at it brought it some water and found the owner. I told him I was going to call the policeif he didn't find some shade for the animal. It made me feel better, but Lord knows what that horse has gone through since.

If you know a Believer who treats their dogs badly... remind them of this scripture... Proverbs 12:10 The godly care for their animals, but the wicked are always cruel.

The Bible is full of instruction on how we should live our lives and I was especially happy to run across those words of command. I know a lot of 'churchy' people who treat their pets horribly and think it's okay.

I believe that Dogs and their unconditional-loving hearts have a special place in Heaven. I also believe that you reap what you sow aka Karma. Those who mistreat animals will get their just reward.

I think it's because those people view their animals as property as opposed to actual living creatures who rely on them for the food, water and shelter...

I'm so glad the neighbor of the people who owned the two dogs wasn't afraid to call animal control...If they had not done that chances are the other poor dog would've died...

BTW,I found out they wer Shih tzu's...They showed pics of the surviving one and the poor thing was so matted that it must have taken hours to shave him!

I am no religious schollar, but the arguement I get from that type is "God gave us Dominion over the animals, for us us use as we see fit" and of course thay are JUST animals....

We are not here to dominate any other species of animal. Humans are the first to forget that we also are a species of animal and through time have proven we are by far no where as intelligent as only we think we are. We are here to share not dictate to other species but in turn as we should help ourselves we also must help other animals. Whether created by man for man or not does not dilute the fact that we are responsible no more or no less than any other creation on earth for all harm as well as good we may do. When we put ourselves above other animals we do nothing but inflate our egos which in the animal kingdom only humans possess this trait or flaw.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Technically speaking, I believe there are 5 catagories of major life forms. Bacteria, protists, fungi, plants, and animals. Where do we fit you ask? We fit obviously in the animal catagory. Who are we to say we are smartter than other animals such as dogs? Where is the proof? Dogs may not communicate the way we do or interact the way they do but does that mean what we do is more inteligent than what they do and are capable of? They have a different mind set and are smarter in different ways that we are not. One example is smell. Dog's have noses thousands of times stronger than ours, however out eye sight is quite a bit better for the most part. Interigence between different species cannot and should not be compared. Some people make the comparison that a dog's inteligence is that of a toddler. Why compare the two? They are two completely different specias and communicate, act, and live in different ways than we do. Furthermore, taking things into yet another subcatagory, both humans and dogs (both animals) are considered mammals. God did NOT create these creatures to be treated like dirt. One of his loving nature and compassion would never do such a thing.

Very well put Todd, and quite honestly I've met dogs who have way more intelligence then a lot of humans I know...

Not to mention while humans are not quick to forget or forgive the wrong done to them, dogs love you unconditionally no matter how much pain or abuse we inflict upon them yet humans so easily abuse and neglect them!!!

The sad thing is we so easily do it...Maybe because we know they will so forgive us...

I don't know to many humans that would forgive someone for letting them bake in the sun with no shelter or water...I certainly wouldn't. I guess the people who do that don't have the same thought process as us!

I will never understand how you can look into the eyes of a suffering animal knowing you're the cause of that suffering and not only refuse to rectify the situation but make no effort to change it!!!!

I guess that's what makes those of us who are animal lovers different from the you now whats who inflict the cruelty and abuse.....

I follow the principle that mankind was given dominion over animals and it is our responsibility to care for the animals of this earth. Not many people are in a position to fully fund a rescue farm or something like that but if one can help an animal in need then they should do so. I've taught this to some youths I've come across as well as my 17 year old. As for my dogs, I usually change their water twice daily for freshness and with this heat I've changed their water up to 6 times a day OR I'll put an ice cube in the water to keep it cool.......and they don't even have to spend long hours outside. The fans we have running hit them just as much as they do us; especially with one being a Bulldog and them not handling heat well I make sure both dogs have fresh COLD water at all times!
