Exclamation Have to Have a 'do over' Rabies Shot!!

Be glad that this didn't happen in your area! I barely missed the area mentioned as Max had his 5th shot this past March. I live in southwestern Wi. Can you imagine how much more damage to the dog having 2 shots instead of 1---One is bad enough! Even though the vaccine was outdated--It was mentioned that it prob. was still 'good' but because of the Wi. law, it had to be redone! I'd of had a fit if I had to get the 2nd shot!!
I feel that the idiots who 'screwed up' should have to pay for a titer test and prove that a 2nd shot was not necessary and not have to give a 2nd shot. Do they even care or know how much damage could be done to the dog?! (A 2nd shot of poison!)

That is awful! I wonder how many vets will try to charge for the second vaccine?

Why are the laws/rules written by people who don't have an education in the field in which they writing laws in? If they went to the U of W then they would find the most knowledeable person in North America in regards to rabies vaccine Dr Shultz. Shouldn't his oppinion trump a beaurocrats? Why are we not given the choice to titer or vaccinate? I would gladly pay the extra money to titer and if nessicary then vaccinate. A freind who is a veteranerian told be she had been vacinated for rabies 17 years ago, she gets titered every so often to see if it is still at a protective level, and it is! With one shot 17 years of protection, tell me we are not over vaccinating our pets....

Wow, that's a shame. Leads me to wonder if this was an accident or some sort of con dereived from the desire for cash...

Default Todd:

I don't believe it was deliberate. However, it is now up to the vets who gave out the expired vaccine to do the titer test and repeat the vaccine if necessary at no charge. If I was in that situation and my vet wouldn't do what I suggested, I'd be looking for a new vet pronto.

BTW, I've worked and volunteered in vets offices and shelters. There is absolutely NO reason for administering expired vaccines. The expiry date is very clearly labeled.

I can't even believe they would try to charge again. Just nonsense. Just unbelieveable...

Definitely Gambler-Girl, worst are those politicians and lawmakers who making those laws out of poor animals who suffer. They should make laws against people to make such move that make pets harmful...
