I hope it's ok to post this here and that this is the right place to post it. A friend of mine has lost his dog. Please see the attached photo and description. If there is anyone in the area who may have seen her please let me know.

This is Lucy. She is a friend's dog and went missing last night near River Hill Loop, off of Warrior/Trafford road. There is a reward if she is found! She is wearing a tag with the Vet's Phone Number. Please call it if you find her! Thanks!

If your friend has not yet done so, have him post it on craigslist in both the pet and lost and found section. I have actually found a dog for a woman who lives 50 miles from me all because she posted it in the pet section but failed to do so in the lost and found. In the meantime a woman found the dog that night and posted it in the lost and found but not in the pet section. Neither saw each others ads til I notified the woman who lost it and told her to look in the lost and found section. She mailed me a $50.00 check for finding her dog. I actually never even saw it, only the ad and the description which both ads shared the same info regarding the description.

I don't know if she is chipped - I would guess so - she is very well cared for. I've never met the dog myself, coming from a different continent, but my kids have stayed with the family and they loved her. I will suggest Craigslist to them. I know I have found over here it is essential to keep the dog in the public eye as much as possible. Local radio, press, flyers - make sure that the dog will be recognised.

My inlaws had a similar situation to the one Yogi describes. They rescued a stray lab that had been taken to the vet to be destroyed by the pound. Months later they were traced by someone in the neighbouring county - the dog had only strayed 10 miles or so but there was no communication between pounds. My inlaws missed their dog but were happy to be part of her happy ending.

Get your dog micro-chipped with Home Again chip and it does all the same thing. It alerts Veterinary offices within 50 mile radius of the dogs last sightings. It also sends an e-mail alert to all others who have pets chipped with Home Again chips.
