Default Supplements

Not sure where to put this so I hope this is the right place!

I'm just wondering what supplements you all feed your dogs to help condition for the show ring?

At the moment i'm using Dorwest Keepers mix which just has an overall benefit with sea kelp included then for pigment.
He also gets salmon oil which i'm thinking of changing to cocnut oil or royal jelly supplement.

Look forward to the replies!

Jen

I don't actually show and have no idea with this supplement thing but if what your dog takes is an enhancement or something then I think that's too much. Better ask your vet about it, or maybe it is better if you take your dog into healthier food like raw food..

First of all... he's already on Raw food. Secondly supplements are given to increase health.. e.g. salmon oil to improve skin and coat condition so it's not too much... my vet doesn't think it's too much... I was just wondering what OTHER people use.

I probably will show my new male Pom. I'm sure, that the best formula for the dog's health is the same, that is for the people: healthy food and the regular exercise.

I feed my dogs Eukanuba dog food and I give them some healthy treats: boiled chicken breast, fish, boiled egg, hard cheese, some vitamins. Cheese is very good for the puppies, if given in moderate amounts. It contains a high amount of calcium and some phosphorus. (The body absorb calcium the best if combined with the small amount of phosphorus.)
We do love our everyday walks

I'm a big fan of salmon oil...I've always given it to my Akita's and it shows in their coat...They also get the salmon fish a few times a week in their food...

I don't show but I've always given those two things along with a multi vitamin when they reach adulthood...

Then when they hit 2yr.s of age they get the Glucosamine Condritin(sp) for their hips and joints..

My breeder shows and she gives the same things and the results show and her dogs never fail to place...

Just in the past 3 mths she's had 3 best in shows, best in breeds and best in groups with one of her adult males and two of her pups..

Granted it's not all do to the supplements but it does heelp when it comes to appearence..
