Default YAY for Ella!

So My Ella finally has learned how to catch her tennis ball in her mouth!! This may not seem like a big deal but we've been trying to teach her this for about two months. we knew she was getting close bc she would watch the ball and then BAM she caught it yesterday so of course we made a HUGE deal out of it and she got a greenie and everything. Now shes catching them about 70% of the time.

For a dog that usually takes less that two days to learn a new trick this is a huge deal. Maybe there eye mouth coordination isnt fully developed till about a year old, i dont know. But we were proud of our baby!!

When can you start teaching Buster? We've been trying to teach him for over a year. He doesn't even catch treats. They hit him in the head and then he eats them off the floor.

LOL That is funny!

Good for Ella! I've always been horrible teaching tricks so I stick to the basics. :P Determination pays...Go Ella!

Oh Ella's got the basics down.. this specific trick has been a challenge but generally it takes less than 2 days for her to learn a new trick... she knew sit, down, roll over, and fetch by 8 weeks oh and she was housebroken by 8 weeks... since then i have taught her: spin, up, stay, cover, "say your prayers", touch, mine, wait, "leave it", "which one", how to walk properly on the leash. to stay on her bed when its bed time, and to stay out of the kitchen.

I just have to say: "Ella want to do some training, and she know that means she gets so excited.

We are working on weaving now... she loves her agility classes soo much.

i dont even consider training her work its so much fun! She gets so proud of herself!

Default Luna:

Buster is special. He's simply far too refined to eat food that has been tossed at him. Buster is a gentleman...

Sorry to rain on everyone's parade but I can't help thinking that repeatedly catching a hard tennis ball in her mouth might be hard on the teeth. I know a golf ball would be even worse but ??

these arent regular tennis balls that u use for tennis. they are made by "Kong" and they are pretty soft and they have a squeaker in them. Many of the dogs at the shelter i volunteer at use these balls, some of them do have teeth problems but i can assure u its not bc of the tennis balls. Im sure u have an exception here and there but theres an exception to everything. Heck my sister in laws dog broke a teeth on a raw chicken bone after it took me 3 months to convince her to go raw, $1000 later she switched back to Wellness Core. Nothings perfect and nobodys way of raising there pets is necessarily better than anyone elses. We just have our own ways.
