Smile MIA'S Starting to come back to me

Hi all, I think as a first time dog owner I have made real progress with my Maltese Shitzu, Mia.I took her down to the beach today and I walked with the lead on for a little bit and then let her of.I thought Oh my goodness, she is going to run of to my surprise she did'nt. when I called her back she came back to me ,mind you I have'nt tried it when there are a few dogs around. it could be a bit different then.Thankyou for reading my post all.

Well done - that's the best way to start, where there are fewer distractions. If you do that regularly you will train her to come back. One thing I would recommend is calling her back to you, clipping the lead on as you make a huge fuss and tell her what a brilliant dog she is, then letting her go again. That way she won't associate coming to you with the end of her fun.
