Question HELP! what breed is my dog?!

vets have given me: fawn doberman and vizsla before but both of their ears hang very far below their faces. dobermans have a bigger barrell chest then my dog and vizslas i think are lighter than my dog. but both doberman and vizslas are more stout than my dog too. hoyt's skinner and lanky-er than both of those breeds.

any insight?!

I don't know what he is, but he has a very thick, long tail like a retriever that is used in water. Dobe's don't have thick tails like that.

that's a great point! i'll look into it.. because he can't be within a 100 yard radius of a pond or any water without running and jumping in!

I did a little research and he looks like he might have Chesepeake Bay Retriever in him. His pale eyes and the shape of his head remind me of a Weimeriener.

Smile Welcome to the forum!

I am also thinking mainly Weimaraner. The coat doesn't look Chesapeake Bay Retriever to me--Would be denser and wavy than what I can see from your pics--But could still have the Chesapeake for other features and the coat of the Weimaraner! There could be some Vizsla features as well. I am giving you a link to a good site to check out these breeds as well as any other you want to check out. Be sure to scroll all the way down as there are ads in between the pics and also at bottom of pages--usually has several more pages of pics to click on. When you click on this link--click all breeds at top of page and there are mixed breeds to click on too. In order to see the mixed breeds--You have to click on Hybrid dogs at the top of the home page and then under the main heading--Hybrid Dog Information--go down to the 7th 'sentence'--Pictures of Mixed Breed Dogs. http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/index.htmwhen you finish with the all breeds.
