Default Cataract Surgery Cost?

Anyone have a general idea of how much cataract surgery costs for dogs? My dog has one in his right eye that has pretty much blocked all of the vision in that eye, or seems to have anyway based on how well he can ( or can't ) perceive where the ball is when I throw it to him.

He's only 6 years old, which I was told is still a young enough age to make him a good candidate for it. Just want to find out how much it generally costs.

Not sure about dogs, but the neighbor had to go get her cat done and it cost $300.00. i didn't even know cats could get cataracts.

That would be great if it is only that much. I was thinking it was going to be a lot more than that, perhaps $2000 or more.

I really want to get it done though because he loves to bird hunt, and I feel that by leaving it go on this way he is missing out because he can't see as well.

My Bernese was born with cataract in one eye, she also developed "cherry eye" which she had surgery to repair. I took her to a specialist in MA, at that time we discussed cataract surgery, for people, it is an in out thing(they wear big dark glasses for a bit), for dogs quite different. I think I still have the information given to me, would have to dig for it . As I remember, it required surgery, not laser, and a very long recovery time. The estimate, I don't recall, but it was a lot more than a few hundred dollars. I opted not to do it, as the doctor said it was really not needed as her sight was not that impaired. Maybe the procedure has changed in the past several years.
