Settling in
I gave the new pooch a bath (probably his first ever) and combed out a ton of burs and mats. He looks squeaky clean now. He has a lot less tail hair, but it'll grow back. About 15 minutes into his bath I thought I was going to have to call in reinforcements. He does not like to get wet. I would rather give all of the cats a bath before giving him a bath again.

He doesn't have a name yet. But he answers to Bubba. That's what I call Buster sometimes. And the new pooch looks at me or comes over to me every tiime I say it. Ryan wants to name him Yeti because he looks a lot like the yetis on World of Warcraft. So I might call him Bubbayeti.

His name is Bubbayeti. It's a horrible name, but he loves it. Whenver I call him that, he gets really enthusiastic. I have to use a small guage tractor chain to tie him up outside. He took two bites out of the leash and was loose. Thank goodness he was in the house at the time he did it, or he would have have been gone. It taught me something, to use chain leashes and tie out with a sturdy chain.
I tied him out to potty earlier today and just left the other dogs run loose. Buster ran up and wanted to play. Our Yeti just kept on smelling Buster. And then he play bowed to Buster and they started playing. It was great. They wore each other out. I have never seen Buster so well behaved, not even after walkies or when I play with him. I guess he needed another dog to knock him over repeatedly. And he has been a lot better behaved and calmer in the house. The new pooch got a little snippy when Buster started to get a little too hyper in the house. He put Buster in his place. Now Buster a lot better behaved. If someone told me that I could improve his behavior by getting another dog, I would have called them a liar.

First of all it's awesome you rescued him and it's even better to hear he's adjusting and doing so well!

Well, he is trying to adjust. We are working on crate training. I have to cover his crate with heavy blankets that he can't see through and wait for about 5-10 minutes before he'lll shut up. We thought it would be ok for him him to sleep in the bedroom with the other doggies until he climbed off the bed and started chewing on the bed leg. So we stuck him in Buster's crate. He created such a racket about being put in there. But we didn't give in and left him in there the whole time we were asleep. I took him out as soon as we got up. And then tied him to my ankle so he can't sneak off and do his thing in the house. He doesn't go poo very much. The Sammie and Luna go twice a day and Buster goes every single time he goes out. Must be a guy thing. But the new doggie has only gone poo twice since he's been here. He eats like a pig, so I would think he would have to go more. The little person keeps climbing all over him. He just lays his head down and pretends to take a nap. When she quits climbing on him he "wakes up" again. I believe they both think it's a neat game.
