Default Heartbroken beyond belief... breaking down... my Harley is gone.

Someone broke into my mother's house and now my baby girl is gone. The shining light in my life is gone, I don't know what to do. My heart is breaking, and I can't stop crying. We searched outside until it feels like hope is lost. I want her back and I don't know what to do. I can't believe this, my world has been turned upside down. Harley, my baby, my everything is gone I told her I loved her, made her comfortable and said I'd be right back... then our alarm company called my mother while we were out and they said someone had broken into our house. We hurried home to the unthinkable, my girl is gone. My baby girl is gone... I don't know what to do to make it stop hurting.
Please pray for her please God bring her back home.

She isn't chipped. We were going to get her chipped really soon, I was going to get it done so soon because today she went into the vet for anal gland expression and I saw the sign for the prices. We were going to take her to get another prescription for heartworm preventative and get her everything before we went back to Austin. I found a stray dog last night, called everyone I could. I tied him outside with a towel, food and water. I came in and told Harley that her mommy loves her and that I hope someone would do the same for her. Unfortunately, the dog came loose from his collar before I could take him into a shelter this morning.

Please pray for her or hope for her or anything you can. I miss and love her and I am hurting so bad for her.

Oh no. When did this happen? I hope you find her soon. Have you put up flyers? Newspaper ad? And of course checking with animal control & shelters. Don't give up hope!

It happened last night at 8:00-9:00, I put up an ad on Craigslist and another lost dog website. We're putting up flyers and looking for her today. We think they stole her, they stole my brother's (worthless) expensive shoes and she was in the room asleep when they broke in. My mom keeps assuring me she's okay, or she ran out the door to find me if she was scared like she usually does when I get home. It's cold and I'm afraid she's not coming home.

Oh Harley--that is so sad--I feel for you. Since it has only been hours ---There is hope that you will get her back. Did you knock on your neighbors doors---Maybe they saw something or maybe their homes were broken in to too and may get some idea as to what these thieves were looking for. What did they take if they broke into other places--Are any of their pets missing, etc. I sure hope I see a post soon that you have her back!

My heart is heavy with sadness for you. But there is some hope left. Try not to despair too much. My wife and I will say a prayer for Harley, to bring her home safely and in good health to your loving arms. Just remember the words your Mother said, she's out there just waiting for you to find her. GOD bless.

Thank you, we put up flyers with her picture on them and have been calling shelters. Good news is, we have heard from some people a few blocks down that they saw her the night of the break in running around and they said they tried to pick up a pug. <-- We heard this on 12/23. I'm hoping it's her and she got picked up by someone who is keeping her safe and comfortable on this cold Christmas Eve. We no longer believe she was stolen by the people who broke into the house. She's still out there, and we went to a few homes and spoke to some people and left flyers at homes and on telephone poles today.

My grandmother told me that her sister told her that someone she knew lost their pug and put up posters with REWARD on them. The pug was returned a week later. It gave me hope. If anyone (I know it's a long shot but you never know) has relatives or friends in the Duncanville/Dallas area, please ask them if they know anyone selling an adult pug, saw a pug running around, or knows someone who has recently found a pug. Thank you.

Be sure to check the lost and found section on Craigslist also. Many people post found pets on their not realizing that others have posted lost on the pet section. I have helped a few people by checking both and found where people who lost had posted on the pet section or visa versa and then discovered that the dog was found and was posted on the lost and found or visa versa section.

I've been searching Craigslist and will continue to, thank you. The fact that you've tried it with success makes me feel optimistic.

just popped in to check to see how things were going, i saw your thread when you first started it, and was hoping to hear some good news.
Make sure you check with local shelters every couple of days, and dont rely on over the phone descriptions, they can get it wrong, its important yourself or someone who knows harley go in and look in person. I wish I lived close by so could help you out on this one

UPDATE!!! People have seen her, or a dog matching her description! We had four individuals inform us that they saw a pug running around and some have even reported that they tried to capture her. We have signs up and tomorrow a search party has been organized consisting of friends and family. We initially were supposed to form this search party on Friday, but we had a day of severely low temperatures and rain (on Christmas Eve). But today we searched and are prayers will hopefully be answered soon. We posted more signs and talked to more people, some children told us they tried to catch her, someone else said they know someone who saw her running, and the people down our block said they saw her funning last night. My brother spoke to a group that said they saw her running near their street. All of the people who we spoke to who reported what we are assuming is her, have given similar descriptions of the dog they've seen. Please keep her in your prayers, she has endured the harsh elements of the past few days and this time is very critical. Please wish up luck and pray that we will find her tomorrow!!! I know if we have faith she will be in my arms again this time tomorrow night, enjoying the warmth and love of her family.

Thank you, I first joined this forum when I got Harley. It was either the night I got her, or some time very soon after. It feels like forever ago, I don't want to think that this is my last post about her.

I've checked and posted. I just can't help it, this time is so terrible for me. Now it's starting to feel like those around me are losing patience. My mom told me to shut up and get over it because I have to be strong. She said I've cried enough, and it's a dog, she'll love who ever she's with and I'll love what ever dog I get next as much as Harley. She tries to help, but it just makes it hurt more. My grandmother said she'd get me a new pug, but it hurts too much. It's been almost a week, and I can't face Wednesday night. A lot of people, even dog lovers might consider this ridiculous, but she was truly the happiest part of my life. Harley is the light of my life and brings me so much comfort and has brought me a love I have never known. I want to get a new pug to hold and to make me smile in my time of need, I really do, but I am afraid it would be a sign of me giving up on my baby girl. I want to look into her big brown eyes and hold her like I'd never let her go.

Personally I would wait until you know you are ready for another dog and not get one just because everyone else thinks you should. I had my last dog from the time he was 9 weeks old until he was 12 years old then he passed away he was my best friend and I will never forget him that was 3 years ago and I finally decided to adopt another best friend for Christmas. You and your heart will know when you are ready. I will continue to keep you guys in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you. I'm not getting a new dog until after I graduate. I planned on doing so initially, but Harley found her way into my arms. She's the only exception to the plan. I owe it to myself and her to wait until we are ready. I always told myself her spirit and memory is forever, bracing myself for the day she'd pass away. I looked at her and said to myself, the happiness she has brought me will live on. Now that she's gone, I don't know how to get that back. I feel like running outside every time a dog barks or the dogs start barking, but every time I have there has been nothing. It is driving me crazy and I don't know what to do. It hurts to think it's her and I am just here, but I have to come back to reality and realize that all signs are pointing to someone picking her up. It's been almost a week, so someone must have picked her up. Now I hope they'll give her back.

I don't think any of us here would think you should simply get over her. Your dog is your baby & it is only natural that you hurt so much wanting her back & needing to know she is ok. A week is not long at all. Hopefully she WILL still be found & returned to you!

If the day ever comes that you say a prayer for her & emotionally let her go then you will do it when it's right for you. There is no time frame for any of it. I don't think any one ever truly gets over it. I think one day all we can do is send our hopes up to God & leave those prayers in his hands to at least look after our lost furry ones. But you should always be true to what you feel & not to what someone else says so that you can be peaceful for yourself & Harley.

I'm also another still here wishing you luck in finding your baby.. <3

I don't know what I'd do without I Love Dogs forum. This place has helped me out so much since the very beginning with Harley, and it's helping through this difficult time. God bless you all, I pray that you and your dogs, pets, and families are blessed with many years of happiness and health.
