Question for people about dog art
My name is Mandy, and I'm an avid dog lover!I have one little mutt..a dachschund Yorkie mix, which I lovingly shorten to dorkie Shes amazing, thinks shes human, and really has a thing for bacon. Her name is Laci and she truly is the highlight of my days! I also have a wonderful cat named fox, who truly acts more like a dog. Bellyrubs are his favorite, he loves his stuffed moose, and for whatever reason he just can't resist a good chunk of cookie dough and the occasional plate of corn.
I love dogs so much that I also do pet artwork, including prints and pet portraits! Laci loves it because I get to stay home with her and do artwork..which means theres more opportunities for her to get a bacon snack throughout the days.
Thought I would join the forums to chat with fellow dog lovers, get some crazy good ideas for art, and share my art!
I was actually going to ask...if you were looking for dog art what would you be looking for?

I wouldn't be interested in something simply because it had a dog on it. I would want something with a specific breed or a personalised image.

These things are good to know! What kind of breeds do you think would be best to portray?

I would only be interested in my favourite breed but within that there are so many variations and combinations of coat and colour you could have half a dozen pictures and none would look like mine.
And then of course you're leaving out everyone who has an honest to goodness mongrel or cross breed! That's just me - some people just love any dog pics. I love dogs in general but I wouldn't be interested in pictures of anything other than mine.

I would love a lifelike looking drawing of my girl and if I could be in it that would be even better. Maybe like my face and hers side by side or something like that.

I'm in the same boat as Cig. Neither of my dogs look completely breed standard. Akitas have a variety of colors, patterns & even coat type (a fault). But I do like the silhouette images & statues since the form is completely Akita. Then the Lhasa's are usually portrayed in the long coat & not puppy cuts like my dog. Plus he's mixed though the lhasa is the most prominent. I like looking at dog images but I wouldn't buy something unless it had my own dog too.
You know what I would love..something like the poker playing dogs but with my dogs on it with other some other dogs. I love my dogs & I love playing poker so that would be fun for me.

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"

With 37 dogs, that would be one very large poker table....
Not to mention it would be a mural not a picture for me.
