Since many of us are having an ice and snow filled winter I want to remind everyone that rock salt is very irritating to the pads of a dogs paw as well as being toxic to them.If ingested it can cause vomiting and diarrhea.

If you do not have a fenced yard and have to take your dog for a walk either put dog booties on them or, if they refuse to where them be sure to keep them out for as short a time as possible and be sure to wipe all of their paws upon returning home.

Most pet stores such as Petsmart and Petco carry pet friendly salt but if have have to use regular rock salt please keep these things in mind!

The problem is, it is more expensive than rock salt so, most people who aren't dog lovers won't use it.
